Gardevoir has her turn at becoming a Sailor Senshi, and she brought her knight in shining armor Gallade with her as well. Gardevoir is Psychic/Fairy type while Gallade is Psychic/Fighting. Both have a base stat total of 518 (618 when Mega Evolved). They evolve from Ralts at level 20, and again from Kirlia at level 30. Male Kirlia can be given a Dawn stone to become Gallade. Both Pokemon have the same stat distribution, the only difference is that Gardevoir focuses more on Special Attack, and Gallade focuses more on Attack.
Gardevoir’s Abilities are Synchronize (passes burns, poison, and paralysis to the one who inflicted it), Trace (copies an opponent’s ability; my personal favorite), or rarely it has Telepathy (protects the user from damage from an ally’s area of effect attacks). When it Mega Evolves its ability becomes Pixilate, which turns all Normal elemental attacks into Fairy type moves and gives them a 30% power boost. These attacks are also buffed by its type matchups as well, making them about 80% stronger! Try using Hyper Beam with this combo. Gallade’s abilities are Steadfast (if he gets stunned, his speed increases) or rarely Justified (dark type moves raise his attack power). Mega Gallade swaps them for Inner Focus, which protects him from being stunned altogether).
Despite its feminine appearance, male Gardevoir exist. Gallade are always male though, likely created so Gardevoir could have a masculine counterpart. Both Pokemon are known to be very protective of their trainer, and will protect them at all costs. Gardevoir is based on guardian angels, with Gallade being based on knights. I could imagine if you hurt their trainer, they would make you suffer for that tenfold. If you killed their trainer…
Yes, I ship them. I refuse to train one without the other, or draw one without the other. And what could be better than Gardevoir and Gallade at the head of your party fighting for you side by side hand in hand? What if they were both shiny? If they turned to face you before you gave them their orders (which all Pokemon do when they have four hearts in Pokemon-Amie), you’d swear they were talking to you, as if to say “Don’t worry, master. We won’t let them hurt you.” And if you ship them like I do, you’ll squee. And when I draw them again, they will likely have Mega Evolved.
Ever since I discovered Gardevoir, I have trained one in every game since, and I went out of my way to make absolutely sure all my Kirlia that evolve into Gardevoir are female. Should I catch any males, I’d make sure I have a Dawn Stone to spare. I also made sure their natures did not hinder their strengths in any way, alongside their IVs. Once they were set up, getting them to reach their final form was a long ride (they level up slowly, and their pre-evolutions have very low stats), but the end result was worth it. Both Pokemon have massive movepools (especially Gallade, who can learn moves from almost every type), high stats, and great typing. Both got better in Gen VI, where they both gained a Mega Evolution. Gallade may have been late to the party, but it still counts. The line, minus Gallade, also became part Fairy type, giving it much better offensive and defensive capabilities.
It also helps that Gardevoir is so pretty! The fans certainly agree as well. It looks like a bride, especially when it Mega Evolves. Gallade is no slouch in the awesome design department either. His cry sounds like blades being drawn, which is timed perfectly with his fighting stance. Both Pokemon have such amazing designs, and they are certainly among my absolute favorites from a design standpoint.
Since Gardevoir focuses more on magic attacks, she was given a wand. This one in particular is the Stardust Rod from Final Fantasy 2. It’s exclusive to the remakes, and can only be equipped by Minwu, but it is a great weapon. It raises your Intellect, Spirit, and Magic to 99, which means your spells will hit with maximum power, and you will get 99 MP should you trigger the MP bonus. It also casts a very powerful Fire spell on all enemies when used as an item.
Sir Gallade focuses on physical attacks, and he was given a sword, and not just any sword. He was given Excalibur from Final Fantasy 1. This sword can only be used by Knights (when Warriors get their promotion near the game’s midpoint), and it is the best weapon in the game. Technically, another weapon carries more strength, but this one has a special effect. It deals extra damage on everything it hits, essentially combining the effects of all the weapons designed to kill specific monster types. You will slice through your enemies like a hot knife through butter. This also references Gallade’s insane movepool, which can take down virtually any foe.
Sir Gallade is also wearing Endymion’s armor, combined with the ultimate armor and boots from Dragon Quest 9. He’s also wearing the Great Helm, from many of the games. This helmet has the Mohawk just like Gallade does, and thought it would be perfect for him. Sailor Gardevoir wears the traditional Sailor fuku, with the blue underskirt added in. Hearts were added to her jewelry to reference their love for their trainer, or in her case her lover Sir Gallade. Both were given their shiny colorations, since I found their cyan colors better than their mint green colors.
Gardevoir’s moves:
Psychic: Sailor Gardevoir unleashes a blast of telekinetic energy
Moonblast: Sailor Gardevior pummels the enemy with cosmic power. It also can reduce their magic power
Hyper Voice: Sailor Gardevoir lets out a piercing shriek that damages all enemies around her. This can also bypass protective barriers and disables disguises. If she has Mega Evolved, this attack gets much more powerful.
Gallade’s moves:
Psycho Cut: Sir Gallade launches a sword beam at his target. This attack is long range, and has a high critical hit chance.
Close Combat: Sir Gallade unleashes a flurry of rapid fire punches and sword slashes at his enemy, with no regard to any damage he might take. His defenses weaken after the attack ends.
Night Slash: Sir Gallade slashes his enemy from beyond the shadows. Critical hits land more easily.
They can combine their powers for a final attack: Heart Piercing Strike (Gardevoir puts all her magic power into Gallade’s sword, who then strikes the enemy with all his might. This bypasses barriers, status buffs, abilities and armor. It always scores a critical hit. Its power is magnified if either of them has Mega Evolved.
