Description
After recruiting Xerneas and Yveltal, they brought me to Terminus Cave in the middle of Route 18. They pointed toward the entrance. A loud roar came from the entrance.
“Hidden in this cave is another like us,” Xerneas said.
“She exists to maintain balance between us, but someone sealed it away,” Yveltal said.
“Is she that powerful?” I asked.
“She can turn your aura against you, weakening you.”
“We can’t help you in your battle, but we can lead you to her.”
I followed them through the cave, battling whoever was stupid enough to challenge me. I was packing two legendaries after all! I felt the presence of a powerful warrior at the bottom of the cave. Its power level was certainly over 9000. When we got to the very bottom, an earthquake occurred, opening up a tunnel leading further in.
“We cannot go any further. Zygarde’s energy weakens us. You must go in alone and prove yourself to her.” Xerneas and Yveltal said.
I drew my sword and travelled into the tunnel. At the back of it stood an enormous green and black snake in a striking position. It fell apart as soon as I approached it, and from its remains stood its Sailor counterpart.
“So, Xerneas and Yveltal have been released,” she said. “Are you the one who released them?”
“I freed them from Team Flare’s nefarious deeds. In return, they escorted me here.”
“Then you must prove your bravery in battle. Have at you!”
Zygarde came out of nowhere in the story as well as media. Game Freak never mentioned this Pokemon at all (I saw pictures on the Internet, but I was skeptical) until the last minute. In fact, Zygarde is never mentioned once in the entire game. The only hint of its existence is the description of the cave where it’s found, saying that “a monster resides here.” I thought it was one of those stories to keep out trespassers, or something you’d tell your kids to behave or “the monster will get you.”
Zygarde is supposed to bring order to Xerneas and Yveltal, but I honestly don’t believe that. True, its Aura Break ability, which reverses the effects of aura abilities, does what it should, but the developers overlooked something: Xerneas and Yveltal have advantages over it! It’s a Dragon/Ground type, which makes it weak to Xerneas’ Fairy moves (not to mention being immune to Zygarde’s Dragon moves. It also can’t hurt Yveltal with Earth moves because Yveltal can fly. To make matters worse, Zygarde has a lower stat total than the others (They have 680, Zygarde has 600). They should’ve made it an Ice/Poison type, where it truly could bring balance between the other two (being strong against their respective types, and resistant to theirs). Only time will tell if Pokemon Z will surface, and give Zygarde much needed levels in badass.
Zygarde may be a weak legendary, but it still has great power. It has the highest defense of all Dragon types. Since she is also part Earth type, I wanted her to have a hammer as a weapon. Since Xerneas and Yveltal got weapons from Final Fantasy, so did she. This one is the Gaia Hammer, which strengthens Earth attacks by 50%, triggers earthquakes, and is a long range weapon. She also carries a shield, since Zygarde’s greatest strength lies in its defense.
She bears the colors of her namesake, and since Zygarde is based on a serpent, I wanted her to have a very long braid. Her tiara is silver instead of gold due to her lower stats compared to the other legendaries. Her boots also don’t go nearly as high on her legs as the others do. Her gloves don’t have the ridges on them, but they still reach past her elbows like the others do.
Attacks:
Dragon Dance: Sailor Zygarde performs a magical dance, raising her strength and speed.
Land’s Wrath: Sailor Zygarde brings down her mighty hammer, triggering an earthquake on all enemies. This attack does not affect her allies.
Outrage: Sailor Zygarde attacks in a violent frenzy. After a few attacks, she becomes dizzy.
