My arrival to the Galar region was met with a distress signal. Somehow, Queen Malanite managed to regenerate after I killed her and had begun to invade another region, with four additional daughters helping her! I managed to drive them off, but something else was calling out to me in the southern part of the region. I headed to the Slumbering Weald and ran inside, the fog thickening the further I went. Once I reached a shrine at the heart of the forest, the fog lifted, revealing two Pokémon Senshi I had never seen before awaited me. They spoke in unison.
“Welcome to Galar, great warrior. We saw you defeat the evil queen and her army, and we believe you are the savior we heard about in Alola. We would like to test your strength.”
I drew my sword and shield and charged at them.
Those who bought the Sword version (like me), are given the chance to catch the legendary Zacian during the post game. It is normally a pure Fairy type, but if it holds a Rusted Sword it changes to Fairy/Steel type, and changes form as well. Its base stat total also changes from 670 to 720! Its only ability is Intrepid Sword, which raises its Attack by 50% upon entering battle. This can give it a strength stat of 723 at maximum upon switching it if you maxed out its EVs and IVs in Attack. To quote Doug Marcaida from Forged in Fire, “It will cut.”
Her Sailor outfit was colored in metallic colored pencils, which I tend to do for Steel types. It makes it look more like armor. Rather than gloves, she wears stylized gauntlets. The orb holding up the bow on her chest was inspired by the various Saber spells in Secret of Mana, which depict a sword over the element. Her shoulder pads were changed to guards, further making the suit resemble armor. She was also given swords for earrings. Her leggings are the Femiscryan Leggings from Dragon Quest 9, which can be worn only by female warriors. The leggings themselves are very durable, not just the knee guards.
Her weapon is certainly not the Rusted Sword. This is the Hypernova Sword from Dragon Quest 11. It is the most powerful sword in the game (tied with the Supreme Sword of Light, especially when both are fully upgraded). This sword can sometimes lower its target’s Defense after it does damage. It’s also in the ninth game as well, but it’s much harder to get. If you are able to get it, equip it, fight a grotto guardian or legacy boss, and spam the hell out of Falcon Slash. You’ll eventually cut their defense in half, and still do more damage with it than any other attacks you’ve got, all while spending only two MP per use! Seriously, no boss stands up to you when you do this. If they do, they won’t for much longer.
Swords are my favorite weapons in video games, and whenever the game offers me one, you can bet I’m going to use it, and cut down any enemies that stand in my way for the whole game. This is best shown whenever I play Fire Emblem, as my character often uses classes that specialize in swordplay. Swords are also your main weapon in every Zelda game, and I prefer using the one-handed versions when engaging the enemy up close. Many of the strongest weapons you get in RPGs tend to be swords, and I will make sure I max out my skills with them by endgame, intentionally or not. They are the perfect balance of strength and speed, and my weapon of choice for close combat. This is precisely why my persona was given a sword
“It will kill.”
Attacks:
Behemoth Blade: Sailor Zacian enlarges her sword and slashes her target with all her might. If her target happens to be Dynamaxed, it deals double damage.
Falcon Slash: Sailor Zacian delivers two quick slashes to her target. Thanks to her weapon, either of these strikes can lower their Defense.
Sacred Sword: Sailor Zacian slashes at her target. This attack ignores any defense or evasion bonuses they have.
Miracle Slash: Sailor Zacian’s sword glows white and she strikes her target with it. Half the damage she inflicts restores her health. It does slightly more damage than a standard attack.
