There's no messing with this pigeon! He's got so much attitude he didn't feel like he needed to move an inch when I approached, pointing the camera in his face!!

It is a shame how some people see these birds. They really should respect them b/c any animal that can live and THRIVE in some of our filthy cities should be respected! It's because of us that they are so numerous in the cities.

I was devastated to learn that the pigeons in Trafalgar Square in London were reduced greatly and feeding of them banned - I loved feeding the pigeons! I love the birds! And I agree - completely fair play to the pigeons for managing to thrive in our city conditions where alot of other animals couldn't!

Oh that's a shame. I am sure tho that those that are left are definitely finding food else where.

Emma-Lawlor In reply to PaganFireSnake [2010-05-07 12:04:41 +0000 UTC]

That was the plan though, that without the food there, they'd have to go elsewhere but it was such a tourist attraction - acid rain and all the car fumes I'm sure is doing far more damage to the monuments there than the pigeon poop!

Oh I love pigeons, and I could never understand why people disliked them until I took this shot! It looked really pretty, but when I took the photo, it looked dirty and evil!! So not the result I wanted!! But I love how close I was able to get to it!! I was literally in his face an he didn't care!!

Thanks for the fav glad you like it!!

Great pigeon portrait, not one of my favourite birds but they are quite pretty as you have proven with this photo.

Emma-Lawlor In reply to DartmoorAndBeyond [2010-04-29 22:20:06 +0000 UTC]

I don't think this photo shows pigeons at their best at all! I quite like pigeons, and don't think of them as dirty, scruffy animals like lots of other people do. But I find myself being disgusted by this photo - it's dirty and evil looking! I just like how close I managed to get to it, and the shiny breast feathers!!

FirmAsRock [2010-04-28 20:10:36 +0000 UTC]

You killed it didn't you. There's no life in that eye. First you killed, then you stuffed it, gave it glass eyes and then you slander not just this individual creature but all of it's kind. Take a close up of your own feathers some time and see how clean YOU are. Hah!!

Emma-Lawlor In reply to FirmAsRock [2010-04-28 20:59:33 +0000 UTC]

No, I was just trying out that technique you told me of the last time!

Hey, my feathers are far cleaner than that!! Hey, originally I was saying I didn't see why people hated them so much - I love pigeons!! It was only with a close up that I see what people are talking about!

I just discovered this emote and am loving it!! (I have an addiction to fish - not as food, but as pets. I spend all my spare money on buying new fish for my aquarium!!!) so yeah

ZOMG!!! NO FISHIES!! DON'T DO IT!!

Is there a list of all these 'plz' accounts or something? I dunno how people seem to know about them.

FirmAsRock In reply to Emma-Lawlor [2010-04-29 22:46:58 +0000 UTC]

I would tell you but . . . . . . .... that wouldn't be any fun. It's an esoteric language. I actually have conversations with a number of people on here simply in emotes. You could try doing that just using the ones on the emoticon list. As you become more adept and display a proper understanding of the code others will be more inclined to introduce you to the deeper levels of the language.
