Description This screen capture is copyright of the The Last Airbender Movie/Paramount Pictures.

This was a poster I felt needed to be made, because while many Avatar fans loved the movie (myself included), many Avatar fans think that it wasn't "great" but "ok"; with many thing missing.

Then you have Avatar fans (not Avatar fans in my book) who bash the movie and bash M. Night like if he was a War Criminal; like the moronic-43rd-President (Bush).

Note: I said people who BASH the movie and BASH M. Night; and as we know, not everyone who didn't like the movie is a basher, so stop being such complainers when this isn't necessarily aimed at you.

NOT LIKING A MOVIE ISN'T THE SAME AS BASHING A MOVIE!!!!

Immature-Bashers are not true fans in my book because if they were, they'd be at lease happy that someone thought the show was great enough to be a live action movie; I mean how many other cartoons have ever gone through that; not even Avatar's rival; Naruto got a movie of his own.

And M. Night did what any fan would do, show his love for Avatar by making a movie; so I don't see immature-bashers as true Avatar fans; Avatar fans who bash others for showing their love towards Avatar; kind of hypocritical.

It's like;

"You think bashing The Last Airbender makes you a true Avatar fan? It makes you look like moron, but not make you a true Avatar fan. Is that what you think an Avatar fans does; bash another Avatar fans for trying their best to make a live-action-movie and act like all their work was for nothing?"

Just like friends don't hurt friends, fans don't go out of their way to bash the fan art (including films) of other fans.

The characters weren't unbearable, I enjoyed them, and they weren't idiots.

The Earthbenders in this movie are controlled by fear, so of course theyt don't Earthbend.

The movie didn't damage the story line, they didn't add Avatar to the Korra title because James Cameron is a selfish title hog.

Really? Katara in the series was somewhat competent even though self taught at waterbending. Iroh went from being wise and awesome to just being odd.

As far as Earthbenders being controlled by fear, that ain't happening. In the series they noted how resilient the Earthbender rebellions were and how as long as they had hope they would fight.

Well the Iroh change wasn't too bad, you don't have to be fat to be wise.

And while Katara was really good . . . hmm, ok, she was good in the movie, but I which they'd show her in action more before she met Pakku. The only footage we have before then is her hitting Sokka twice, lol.

timmy64 In reply to Winter-Phantom [2012-06-22 01:16:21 +0000 UTC]

Okay, Katara became Aang's water bending master in Book Two. In the movie, she can barely master the basics even after meeting Paku.

Iroh's wisdom gets traded for platitudes. That bugs me.

Does giving your honest opinion about all of the things you found horribly atrocious about the movie, without being tactful (because, let's face it, you're not talking to M. Night Shyamalan) count as bashing? For instance, if I took Team Four Star's words and called M. Night Shyamalan a "white-washing son of a bitch," in good humor, of course, would you consider that bashing?

Well ok, I don't count that as bashing, but what this girl said to me was bashing;

mmorpger In reply to Winter-Phantom [2012-06-20 06:02:43 +0000 UTC]

Why? She stated her opinion, although not tactfully, and she supported it with evidence from the movie, just so it was apparent that she didn't simply dismiss it as "just another horrible live action adaptation," and she said no worse about the people who disagreed with her than you did about the people who disagreed with you in your description of this deviation, and, in fact, the deviation itself.

Winter-Phantom In reply to mmorpger [2012-06-20 06:19:09 +0000 UTC]

Ok, but it was still very rude of her just to say all that the way she did, many some of the things she said were aimed directly at me.

mmorpger In reply to Winter-Phantom [2012-06-20 06:21:09 +0000 UTC]

It seems to me that, in that screenshot, the only thing she said that was directed at you was that comment about liking shit if you like the movie.

Winter-Phantom In reply to mmorpger [2012-06-20 06:35:00 +0000 UTC]

Ok, but it still was very rude, and stuff like "poop in your mouth" and "shut your mouth" was directed at me.

mmorpger In reply to Winter-Phantom [2012-06-20 06:38:50 +0000 UTC]

But have you considered that you directed negativity at anyone who took real offense to the quality of the movie when you told them, quite arbitrarily, that you don't consider them fans of the show?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Winter-Phantom In reply to mmorpger [2012-06-20 06:42:59 +0000 UTC]

Well what I meant was for those who bash the movie without giving it a chance, I didn't mean those who just simply didn't like the movie.

And while I do get upset at people for just coming by and bashing the movie on my own page, I don't use personal insults unless someone does it first.

mmorpger In reply to Winter-Phantom [2012-06-20 06:45:50 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure I'd consider calling your taste, and not to be punny, but, shit, a personal insult. Sure, it demeans your taste, but it doesn't really say anything about you personally. And after all, they sure seemed offended by this deviation, if it inspired them to react in such a way.

No it didn't suck! And wow, what kind of loser pays $30 to see a movie in 3D, I only paid $7, and it was completely epic!

The movie shined with the original TV show. Now a lot of people who's never watched the original thinks it rocks. This movie makes me want to personally thank M. Night for showing us the show was so great, it was worth making a movie out of. He needs to keep making movies.

The Waterbenders of the Northern Tribe where epicly American. FTW! The South Tribe were they native looking.

All of the actors were amazing. Zuko's so called scar looked like realistic scratches to the eye. It took only one Earthbender to move a pebble and it was an epic Macho Man dance the other six did.

I'm sorry if you're some annoying freak who has to rant for 30 minutes to make yourself feel good. I'd rather just slap you in the first minute. Oh and they did great going all fancy with Aangs arrow. It wouldn't have been fine just to copy the originally way.

I wish I could have helped myself with that movie coming out. Your "wolf in sheep clothing" statement makes me want to crap on your brain, or what ever cells of brain you have left, if you ever had any to begin with. You can't honestly tell my you didn't enjoyed the movie. If you didn't you must really love eating shit because they are that far from each other.

Moral of my rant: Get a life, you retarted loser! Learn to talk properly without sweating, as you said the ef word 20 times you getto freak, and I have the right to post what I like, me and tons of Avatar fans thought The Last Airbender was the best movie of 2010, not all Avatar fans are as narrowminded as you!

And using personal insults just because I like a movie only shows how much more of a loser you are!

And don't tell me to shot my mouth, this is America, freedom of speech and me and other Avatar fan; our love for M. Night's great work isn't hurting anyone, but your stupidity is hurting yourself and annoying others.

Again, GET A LIFE BEFORE A LIFE GETS YOU, YOU LOSER!!!!

I as much consider this movie an A:TLA movie was Tsukihime fans did with Tsukihime, Lunar Legend.

In terms of accurecy they are kind of equal, but M managed to mess up more:

Winter-Phantom In reply to fanglish [2012-02-14 16:04:41 +0000 UTC]

I don't understand the first paragraph.

But M. Night did a great job, Paramount screwed things up just like the idiots at Sony did with Spider-Man 3. This reboot is so going to suck ass The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will never happen, what we need is a Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire.

But yeah, M. Night like Sam Raimi did a great job. Life if a battle between Artists and CEOs. The Artists (M. Night and Sam Raimi) have great passion in what they do. The assholes, sorry, I mean the CEO-Assholes always butt in and ruin a view with their greed for money and lack of talent (Paramount and Sony).

fanglish In reply to Winter-Phantom [2012-02-14 17:39:41 +0000 UTC]

Replace the typo "was" with "as" and the first paragraph would be an inside joke for Tsukihime fans. I'm not going to explain it.

I would not put blame all of the blame on Paramount's feet (after all some of what I consider the mess up, like that earthbending scene you can see in the link) and M DID progressively get worse since "Sixth Sense" (if you ask me).

But the ones I really blameis Nickelodeon who did not pay as much attention to the movie as they did to the series (or anyone who was responsible for that).

Winter-Phantom In reply to fanglish [2012-02-14 18:09:49 +0000 UTC]

But The Last Airbender had a lot of great shots and scenes that were taken out because of Paramount, so it's pretty much all Paramount's fault.

Cant wait for the Spider-Man reboot to come out . . . It'd suck so bad that the other half of the people will finally release that Sony was to blame for everything, not Raimi.

I just hated the film as a film. It was funny where it shouldn't be. It took an entire dance number of martial arts moves just to move one rock or spew a burst of fire. I just didn't like it at all. *sigh*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Winter-Phantom In reply to OrdinarySnowflake [2012-01-15 12:48:59 +0000 UTC]

It didn't take many moves to move a rock, they six benders lifted a wall, then did some macho moves for nothing as the one bender did the rock. Just because a bender moves, doesn't mean they're bending.

And I felt it was funny in the right places, over all I think M. Night did a great job.

It wasn't whitewashed. The characters are not even Asian in the Cartoon.

They did have Asian and Indian actors in the movie, and I feel M. Night did a good job picking characters, and they had great dialogue.

M. Night did watch the series as the movie is close enough to the series to support his claim.

Yeah, I'm so looking forward to see how things change in their new series. I'm still mad at James Camera; because of him, the title changed to The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra. It should have stayed Avatar: The Legend of Korra.

Well I don't mind the three element thing, since we've already seen all that with Aang, it's not like repeating everything, but it seems like Korra is 17, which means ether she learned she's the Avatar at a young age and traveled, or she learned when she was suppose to (16) and learned those elements in a year, which I don't like that idea, as I don't see why Korra would be in a hurry to learn what takes years to learn (as Aang was in a hurry).

As much as I agree with your statement I don't really like the "true avatar fan" part. Mostly because those bashers are constantly telling the people who wholly support the movies "not true fans" Maybe there is a better way to deliver that, like saying they are fans that have a bad attitude. I really found the "wolves in sheep clothing" very powerful.

In my opnion of the movie was that it messed with original idea of the cartoon and the guy that played Sokka was useless. There is no denying that m.night. got the effects spot on. So I guess in that way it was a good movie but only visually.
