Yeah, it's a common word; coincidence.
Warning: long explanation about my entire thought process behind this picture below;
___________________________________________________________
I made this poster picture meme thing over two and a half years ago; not because of the coincidence of Cameron using "Avatar" for his title, and not even because I was one of the few to enjoy M. Night's movie;
The reason I made this poster was for Avatar: The Legend of Korra. I heard the reason Avatar was dropped from the title is because of Cameron. Yeah, this picture isn't suppose to defend M Night's movie, it's suppose to defend Avatar: The Legend of Korra.
The only reason I used M. Night's Aang (or Ung), is because Emperor Kuzo flashed back and forth three times. The first time I used a picture from Avatar: The Last Airbender, and the second time I used a picture from Avatar: The Legend of Korra. The third time, I didn't want to repeat a previously used Avatar source, so I needed a third Avatar source, and since I used a picture from the only two Anime series . . . M. Night's movie was the only Avatar source left . . .

It's no big deal to drop Avatar from the title of M. Night's movie, as that's another version of Avatar and it doesn't add or take away anything from the main Anime series.
But then you have Avatar: The Legend of Korra which isn't another version of Avatar, but actually a continuation of the Anime series, and yeah, dropping the title from it does kind of take away from the series a bit as it's could now harder for people new to the series to figure out A:TLA and A:TLOK are connected; Avatar is the key word that strings there two series together.
It's like if the just called the Prequel Trilogy "TPM", "AOTC" and "ROTS" without "SW" in their title, fans new to the SW series could have trouble knowing there are suppose to be the first three episodes before Episode IV-VI.

In my opinion, to settle this we should state the complete titles when talking about them, to remove the confusion. Same thing for words such as Indian and Native American.

*James Cameron
But yes I totally agree. Nobody these days seems to know what the REAL Avatar is, cause all they think about is blue Pocahontas over there.

Cool, glad you like it. Yeah, there's only one real Avatar, and he's not blue.

Cameron started working on his movie 'Avatar' back in the '90s, so technically, his came first. But I still think it's ridiculous how he thinks he can copyright a word that's existed for millennia. The Legend of Korra was originally going to be called "Avatar: The Legend of Korra," but then the Legal Troll came along and said "Nope!"

Yeah, I just hate that, and if he did want to copy right it, back in the 90s, why didn't he do that when ATLA came out, so ATLA and ATLOK could flow smoothly under one title rather than two different titles.
It looks like Korra won its freedom after all, now I just hope it stays like that until it comes out this year.
