Description 20 paces north

20 paces north, by way of the sword of the stone, and into the jungle soon you must go.

update 4
I think i am done

update 3
color and shadows moving nicely looking at the highlights later

update 2
Why the white bear? well the original piece the bear looked like a monkey- i have never been happy with that- so hence the grand power of vellum and wall-la - new bear- which he told me is much more pleased with his appearance- and it fits the other illustrations keeping continuity.

As you can see has to be right and that was a major change that needed to be done, yet i did not want to have to redraw the whole scene again.

more to come- inking the next page tonight...

updates
Back to inking on the pens I enjoy the most. I find that the keep a smooth feel to the piece, which is much better than the last set of pens I was using. Live and let learn, you can't skimp on the pens.

ok colors are coming
Anyways our adventure continues - flats to come soon.

I REALLY like the whole scenes with all your details, but also enjoy the vibrating, powerful colours. I can feel the strong sunshine (early afternoon atmosphere for me) but it reminds me of the times when sun wasnt burning like now...
Sun with also coolng breeze...
I REALLY like it.

awesome... for the story/campaign I'm creating, I just took a map of Australia, and did the "details" by hand in colored pencil... I think, however, that a professional artist could take my "super rough idea" and turn it to something nice.

Trav this is looking AMAZING! Your talent with creating these scenes is so awesome. I love the greenish hue of the skeleton corpse with bottle, the light blue water and the darker rich blue of the birds. Awww chef bear he's still my fav!

Looks fantastic man. I've been thinking about your work a lot of late, and even though I keep quiet, I've always been keeping up. You're a huge inspiration Trav, ever since the days back when I discovered you on elfwood. You're the man.

I appreciate that. I am glad that we have a site that is much stronger than elfwood as well. I really believe there is much more potential for growth here and i am glad you are here as well

Take heed now: Do not eat the soup. The expression on the cook's face seems to indicate that he's giving that there 'ingredient' some serious consideration.

The island knows it has visitors, and jungles are known to have yet more eyes. Luck be with your crew...

gruebait In reply to Magpie8spook [2009-04-30 01:54:59 +0000 UTC]

I hope e's not that desperate fer 'ingredients'! Thars some nice fat birds on the rocks, and I'm sure there'll be some large-ish snakes in th' jungle if e's lookin' ta fill th' pot. Much better fare than a sun-dried buccaneer!

....That sounded like pirate talk, right?

I do have to say that was one possibility I didn't think of.

I like the look on the cook's face! I can imagine him asking himself how he got talked into this trip. Or looking to find a pulse. (I have a strange sense of humor at times)

I can't wait to see surprises this island hides!

On another note it appears that the sword in the dusty corpse is almost the same as the one with the pendant(?) on it.... I smell backstabbing... Or a gruesome clue.... Or..? Hmmmm.....

Microns are the best. I used to ink with rapidograph pens, what a pain to keep them clean.

I just realized the teddie's "skull and bones" logos are teddy skulls!

Since you invited us along, I had to do a pic of the sushi chef joining the crew. [link]
