Description Oil on canvas. 22"x30".

The title, "Phaedra" has nothing to do with the character from Greek mythology but rather, the title of Tangerine Dream's first and in my opinion, best album. The all electronic keyboard music is abstract, yet serene. It conjours up images of walking or traveling by boat through a frozen wasteland. In some parts it is spacey and sounds like strange birds or surreal, weird little creatures calling to one another off in the distance.

In this painting it is Winter so you will only see but a few 'luminorphs' floating by now and then.

Damn. I hate it when I think I have a great idea, and then I discover someone else has already made come to life. Great job though.

Thanks. If you listen to "Phaedra" again it may inspire a different approach. Perhaps a different sort of wasteland or something more outer space-looking.
There are also many wonderful rock and ice formations to look at on the internet that may inspire you, as well.

Cool! I like the jellies floating around. They look like alien explorers.

Thank you. I've written a short story called, "The Observatory Gardens" which will appear on Phase5 Publishing's fantasy/sci-fi magazine site. The creatures I call, 'luminorphs" and they are essentially alien explorers who enter various worlds and dimensions via transdimensional portals.

I have most of Tangerine Dream's albums but I prefer their earlier, somewhat more abstract work.
