Description Rhianna - A Portrait
October 14th, 2012
Colored Pencil
About 5x7 inches

Another little quickie portrait I just did this evening of my character Rhianna. It's similar to the one I did of her brother Mornai (lordshadowblade.deviantart.com… several weeks ago. I think there's been some improvement (hopefully!) since that one too, which makes me happy. I really enjoy doing these little projects, heh, they're so quick and fun! Anyway, you'll be seeing more of these in the future, so stay tuned!

Shamelessly based off of an image by Morgan Weistling.

Please come up with more pictures of this story. It seems interesting.

Thanks! I'm afraid my inspiration for the story has rather died, but perhaps someday I'll pick it up again. In the meantime historical medieval stuff is more what I'm interested in these days.

Try playing Elder-Scrolls and re-reading Lord of the Rings. Your characters will then come back to you. Β

That's very good advice; thank you! It certainly has been awhile since I last read LotR, though of course--along with the Silmarillion--rank as some of my absolute favorite books. Β

It will work, there is always a muse to help you out. I'm currently studying a few more novels before getting back to writing my story.
Video Games also seem to help but some people are not really into games. When it comes to Video Games I look for a great story and world building. You like History, that is the greatest key to world building. Movies (won't bother going there. Everyone loves 'em). Last but not least, MUSIC… Helps in lots of ways.Β
I give you the best wishes and support.Β

YESPLZ. In my imagination, there is an online store that sells nothing but wide decadent fantasy trim, perfect for all your Numenorean lady fashion needs, or whatever the case may be.

She sorta looks like my little sister, except with slightly lighter hair and brown eyes instead of gray.

I think it's a little better than the Mornai one? They're both pretty good.

I REALLY like her design. The color scheme, and how her jewelry goes along with the designs and jewels in her dress. Her neck seems to be JUST a bit skinny, though it might be the angle...?

Once again, huge fan of what you do ! Her face is lovely, and I love the way you use colored pencils However I think that because of her earrings, her neck seems a bit weird... not shockingly, but a bit thicker on the back than it really is. Other than that, lovely portrait ! I love her eyebrows (I have a thing for strong eyebrows in feminine faces) and her eyes are magical

Theophilia In reply to Eosphora [2012-10-19 04:31:59 +0000 UTC]

THANK YOU!!! Yeah, the earrings might have gotten a little overdone. I feel like the necklace and the earrings don't quite fit...but that might be because I didn't have a reference to see how they fit on the neck or cast shadows on the face.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Eosphora In reply to Theophilia [2012-10-19 17:51:57 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it's always more complicated without a reference ! To me it was just the size, I don't think there was a problem with the fitting

And you are very welcome

I'd sure like to see what you can do if you ever get around to it, but the Fourth Crusade is one of my interests. I never seen the clash between Crusaders and the Eastern Empire done on drawing before. This is by no means a request, but I often wondered about it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Theophilia In reply to Pimsleurable [2012-11-07 18:25:25 +0000 UTC]

I suppose the trouble for me is that I'd have to find a scene that really fascinated me, and THEN depict it. I'm going to get around to reading the Chronicles of the Fourth Crusade soon anyway, so maybe I'll find a scene that I especially like.

Pimsleurable In reply to Theophilia [2012-11-07 21:10:54 +0000 UTC]

It's not the kind of thing they talk about in the history books since the events galvanised ill feelings between Western and Eastern Europe. There was much going on and nothing remotely romantic between the Venetians, the Eastern Romans, and the Holy See. It's easier for me to see Saladin and Richard III in battle as opposed to the Angelos dynastic infighting, the Doge (blind and nearly 100 at the time) leading his Venetian fleet along with the Crusaders, or Pope Innocent III's conflicted response to the sack of a Christain city.
