Description
A snapshot from the wedding of Caranthir (yes, THAT guy) and his wife, unnamed by Tolkien. In my fanfic novel "The Tempered Steel", she's the formidable loremaster and geographer Tamurillë. Neither of them are particularly romantic, but I nonetheless like to think that Caranthir - for reasons of prestige and propriety if nothing else - had a fully-fledged Elven wedding with witnesses and vows and rings and, of course, gorgeous wedding robes! These are inspired by the beautiful designs from the SWG Middle-earth Museum prompt list: Tamurillë's gown , Caranthir's robe .
I wanted to write a fic to accompany this (I already finished the painting in time for Feanorian Week) before sharing it more widely, but it's only 1/4 done and the deadline for the Museum challenge is tomorrow, so the pic will probably have to stand on its own. Oh well!
