Description Little Red Riding Hood - Scene 1 - Full view!!

Mother's Wise Words
Once upon a time there was a dear little girl who was loved by every one who looked at her, but most of all by her grandmother, and there was nothing that she would not have given to the child. Once she gave her a little cap of red velvet, which suited her so well that she would never wear anything else. So she was always called Little Red Riding Hood.

One day her mother said to her, "Come, Little Red Riding Hood, here is a piece of cake and a bottle of wine. Take them to your grandmother, she is ill and weak, and they will do her good. Set out before it gets hot, and when you are going, walk nicely and quietly and do not run off the path, or you may fall and break the bottle, and then your grandmother will get nothing. And when you go into her room, don't forget to say, good-morning, and don't peep into every corner before you do it."

I will take great care, said Little Red Riding Hood to her mother, and gave her hand on it.

~ Written by Charles Perrault.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Illustration 1 of 7, with this being the hardest one of all. I know the perspective is wrong, but I like the way Little Red's mother came out. The design of Little Red herself was pretty hard, considering not every color goes that well with red, but I'm happy with the result. It still needs a bit of tweaking here and there though. I didn't draw a bottle of wine on purpose, it just seems wrong to me that wine will cure an old woman, sorry! I just don't see the logic there, which is why I put honey instead. I was also grown up with the version of cake and jam, or cake and honey, so I'm sticking to that. ^^

Hope you enjoy!

Love,
Mellas Fenixxes

Your illustrations are very professional. They bring to mind some of the old illuminated manuscripts ive looked at. Even the perspective you use seems medieval (Which is not a bad thing). The only thing I can suggest is to not make it so perfect, an example of this is in the bricks. I would personally like to see more of the hand of the artist, but like I said: that's a personal opinion. Good job though, and I can see that you have a real talent for illustration.

Wow I really like the style for this. It really feels like it's 3D for some reason ^^ I especially like the border and the vines wrapped all around.

Thank you very muchly for your comment! The 3D effect might have been created because I did the mother and Little Red first and then kinda pasted it in the drawing afterwards ^^ Thank you very muchly once again!

This is very original. I like that you put your own personal, the spin on the colour scheme and the costumes. It is obvious you spent quite a while on this piece. There is so much to look at - that is ALWAYS a plus. I adore Little Red Riding Hood. She looks so innocent and sweet. Very childlike!

Excellent job!

That's a pity, but the writing that's coming up must be something very good once again! Maybe even better! Because you know, after you stopped writing or drawing for a while, when you start again your first piece is usually an amazing one! I'm glad to hear you'll keep me posted Thanks alot!

I'm completely blown away by your detailing of this picture honey! Personally I don't really see a problem with the perspective of things here, but then again it's not really my place to say anything as it's not my art. The things that stand out so awesomely to me are the flowers, you draw them so prettily. I can see roses, but I'm not that good at reconigzing other kinds of plants.
Aww! Little Red Riding Hood's mother looks so cute. You captured the total "loving discipline" look perfectly! Makes me remember exactly why I love mother and daughter pictures.
Little Red Riding Hood herself looks so adorable! More so in any version I've ever read - and I completely agree with you, red is not the most agreeable of colours. But I think you've done a very good job picking a colour scheme for her, the green/yellow pastel thingie goes very well.
Overall, well done for yet another amazing and breathtaking work of art darling.

Haya hun!
I read your mails today! It's such fun to read them! I'll reply the last one for sure!
XD Don't try to recognize the other plants hun, only the roses are based on real plants, the rest are just fantasy plants I'm too lazy to copy all the other plants. I will get to that soon enough ^^
Yay for details! I found out that details do a lot for the picture, so I want to make some really detailed pictures now I'm glad it seems to work! Thank you so muchly for another wonderful comment, dear! And keep on writing, you know I adore reading your mails!

Hiya sweetie"
Ohh! I'm so glad you like reading my mails!! That's really nice to know, it makes me feel really special. I look forward to your reply hun! ^-^
Aaah, that makes sense! Silly me. They're really realistic for fantasy plants honey. Ohh, no! You didn't think I was trying to rush you into drawing other flowers, did you dear?
I love detailng pictures - you're right. It really brings out more in the picture you're working on, gives it so much more life and zest!
Darling, I don't quite know how to tell you this, but ... EVERY picture you submit is swimming with detail! I've never seen any other artist work so hard as I've seen you.
You're truly welcome sweetie! You're so lovely that you deserve all the comments me and everybody else leave for you.
Of course I'll keep writing! Nothing could ever stop me.

Wonderful detail and nice use of textures - can I ask how you got them to be where you wanted? (layer maks?) I really need to learn with textures lol hope you don't mind me asking.

It's just out of a story book really a very telling piece that suggests the story without words. With the pose of the mother with her finger raised "Don't talkto wolves damnit!" lol lovely work Little Red really stands out too against the green.

Paola-Tosca In reply to AkanePen [2007-05-20 22:42:31 +0000 UTC]

The bricks were created by using a brick tutorial I had found by searching through google, the other textures are from mayang.com or photoshop itself You go to blending options (by right clicking on the layer) and then to textures It's quite easy.

Always ask if you want to know something! You've always got a 'no', but by asking you can get a 'yes' (My dad's motto).

Thank you very muchly for sharing your thoughts upon this piece! I love your comments

AkanePen In reply to Paola-Tosca [2007-05-20 22:53:30 +0000 UTC]

Ahh ok I've been whapping them on as a layer, erasing what I don't want and then clicking 'overlay' and fiddling with opacity or even soft light/hard light/whatever.I'll try this out - thank you

Haha you dad's motto is cool.

Anytime and same to you

it's great! i love it. so much detail! when you're wondering about what colors go together, its they're neighbors and opposite. look at a color wheel. red would go best with orange, violet and green.
