Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

So I guess I'll let it out. All of it. Isn't that what a critique is for?
To begin, I'll discuss your originality score. To tell you the truth, people crying in the rain has been done before, and rain is always associated with this type of cathartic experience. The character is very normal looking, and so is the background.
I guess the "normalness" of the work should be discussed via technique. While the rain and reflection are your strongest points, your anatomy and figure, which is the heart of the work, is your weakest. Two things bother me about the figure: A: The breasts are exaggerated and don't flow smoothly to the chest (in other words, its sorta a big bulge instead of flowing... you know). The head also seems a little small in relation to the body. This is probably do to the fact that you moved the forehead down and (for what reason I'm not sure) eliminated the eyes and nose. If you want to be knit picky, the hair would flow downward in the rain, not bounce back up.
Because of the small mistakes in the work, the impact is greatly handicapped. It's hard to get over the details when the big picture seems to good to be true.
As for your vision, the part of the work I can't see, it was OK. This vision isn't your own, but that of many people. This isn't necessarily bad, but what is bad is that you limited yourself. You could have set this girl in a city street, with people walking past her, or made the entire thing cartoony to balance the anatomy mistakes. A small tilt of direction could have changed the entire work.
PS I know I'm a hard critic, so don't feel bad. You're good in your own right, and even the masters have room for improvement! Thanks for your contribution to the Deviantart library! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

wow, that has got to be the most harsh but fair critique i've ever gotten! thank you so much for taking the time to it...

i completely agree with you that my piece lacks originality in every way, i'll make sure to come up with refreshing in the future. additionally, i think the chest was the part i had the most trouble with... i couldn't find a reference for this pose so i just had to improvise. when i get the chance, i'll try my best to edit it

i definitely restricted myself with this piece, and i do think it could've been better. thank you again for writing this because it's motivated me to work even harder

Otherwise this is amazing and I adore it.

This is a very nice piece, more effective for being simple. Adding anything else would draw attention away from the central figure.

Your work with the water, especially the ground water is superb.
As has already been said, the breasts look slightly wrong and draw attention away from the whole scene, but I can't really say much, I make the same mistake myself

I disagree with the comment on the hair needing to look flat. To me the hair gives a sense of movement, as if she has just thrown her head back to scream her frustrations at the very stars themselves.

Altogether this is a nice piece and but for a couple of minor points, could have been great.

This is amazing !
It gives really strong feelings by looking at it. I mean, it's like some of our own feelings deep inside us are realeased just by looking at it... Huh... If what I'm saking makes sense. X')
The way you did the water is impressive, it just add to this deep feeling in the picture I was talking about.
