For starters, i will say that overall i really like this work. Mainly the lighting and color scheme really caught my eye. I first saw it as a thumbnail and i had to click on it because the lighting already looked really lovely and i haven't seen many kinds of paintings that could make that kind of lighting so real and intense.
There is a couple of little problems that i also saw which bother me a tiny bit. For starters, I'm not 100% sure on if the arm and hand are right, but i can say that its very odd for them to be twisted that way just to hold a ribbon. It seems as if she would be holding something a little heavier like a bucket. When someone holds a ribbon they would usually pinch it between their finger and thumb or a similar hand gesture. I'm not saying there's only one way to hold a ribbon but this does look a little unnatural and tense and doesn't really suit the rests of the pic. It feels like from this angle we should be seeing the front of her hand, not the back.
Another thing i noticed is her face looks a little flat. I thought the eyes may be too big at first but then i realized it is because he eyes have no depth on her face. From this angle the lower lid should be tilted up at least a little to show her cheeks volume but it's not so. Not many people would notice this and if you view the eyes alone they look fine but compared to the perspective of her lower face and high mouth, it doesn't quite match.
Also i didn't even notice the cloud "wing" until i read the title but my guess is that its supposed to be subtle e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>
Last comment, (and take it with a grain of salt because its only personal preference) is that her hair looks a little to thin and raggedy to me. I feel like if you use the same painting style as her skin but on the roots of her hair it would add so much depth and transform it from a cell shaded kind of look and into a real lovely painted look.
Anyway that is all i have to say, aside from great work.
Overall, The lighting, the clouds, and your coloring technique are all really great. I held my breath when i saw the thumbnail because the colors and composition were so great but was a little let down my the character who is quite plain and ordinary.
I hope you find my critique fair and good luck with your future art e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

I find your criticism fair however I would argue the point regarding the ribbon and the hand. As far as I can tell she is meant to be clutching it and turning with her hand remaining in place.
For me, the awkward angle that it is held at only highlights its importance in the piece.
I do agree with your when it comes to skin texture though. I would love to see a little more depth especially in the face.
As for the hair I actually like it the way it is - but we all prefer different things. I can't find fault in someone preferring blue over green or realism over abstract etc.

While I recognize that you were hoping for something really angelic, given the lighting, I was kind of happy to see that it was just an ordinary girl, lit up by the sun, who even in her sadness while walking away managed to look angelic.

anatomy is my strong point so i cant agree about the hand. even if its possible it doesnt look natural. My eye instantly told me there was something wrong with it.
also in response to the hair: i did say that was personal preference, not a fault, and they are free to ignore it.
Which is also the case with the "ordinary girl' comment.
my critique was honest and helpful so if you disagree you are welcome to give one of your own

sorry, i did come across as a bit pissed off. i just think its pointless disagreeing with a critique xD
Most people give annoying Ego-stroking /critiques/ that consist of "omg this is so amazing and perfect and thats all i have to say" +all 5 stars.
the when i give truthful honest ones i get argued with D:
i do think it's easier to just give a critique of their own if they disagree c:

It's all good. It's hard to discern tone and intention from text.
And, I totally agree with you about most critiques being ego-boosts rather than constructive criticism.

Next time I'll be sure to pen my own.

I have to say that this is a lovely work.

I really like the colors, shading and how the dress is little transparent and shows the body's shadow underneath it. It really compliments the light in this work. Also the sky is amazing. I wish someday I can draw a sky like that. It looks very natural and beautiful. The contrast between the blue and red works well and I enjoy your style of coloring.

The only thing that catches my eye is the pose. It looks little unnatural. Actually I tried to copy the pose with my own body and it felt like you have to force yourself in to that position. I think the problem is that lower body and legs are portrayed from the back, the torso from the side, the face from the semi-profile and arm is little twisted so that you can see too much of the palm of the hand. And I get this feeling from the picture that she doesn’t have the right arm? I know it must be that her arm is behind her body. Maybe it should have been seen behind or maybe as a “shadow” through that awesome dress?

Over all I really like this art piece and keep up the good work.e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

And I apologize if there is any major mistakes in my English.

Absolutely beautiful! I'm loving the colours and the lighting in this picture! I've looked at many other anime and angel drawings and this is one of the best pictures I've ever seen. I know I sound a little bit biased but it really is a beautiful picture with a lot of impact. I could see this one going a long way.
I don't usually add critique on work (this is only the third one I've given) but this piece definitely deserves lots of positive comments and reviews. My friends and I enjoy drawing anime and cartoons in our spare time and I've always wanted some inspiration... and I've found my inspiration right here. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

I know I'm not as good as you and have no rights to write a critique like this, but this is just spectacular! The way that cloud in the background look like her wings, how the light shading appears on her, how her hair softly fly.. it's just beautiful and give me a feeling of peace. But I still think her expression is the best. Her eyes are caring and lively, but somehow it seems like she's lonely or worried of something... no, it's more like she's sorrowful. And the background too, at first glance it's like she's an angel spreading her wings among the feathers! The way you play with light is just fantastic! But the lights on her legs are a little bit strange, since the lights on her elbow came directly from the bottom up to her face, but the lights on her legs are like from far away... Even so, this is still a masterpiece to me, and now I really want to see more of your art.

i just want to say: you don't need to be as good as the artist to write a critique for them.
even people who aren't artists can tell when something looks bad..like, movie critics cant write/produce movies eh?

no problem.
Critiques from less talented artists , even bad artists, (or people who arent artists at all) are actually good because if they are less knowledgeable, then the technical problems stand out less to them and they notice the really big bad problems that a trained eye might overlook in favor of technique etc.
think of it this way, if you cant convince someone who doesn't know what they are doing, how will you convince a site of artists or other talented artists?
i hope that makes sense.
that's why consumers get asked feedback about supermarkets and other things like that. It's the little guys who notice the big problems

" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

I love the lighting and shading in this picture. You use it so effectively along with the silhouette of her body through her dress adds a realism to it that is very rare in drawn art. Though there are other pictures of angels out there this one stands out. Especially since you used the clouds as the wing and the falling feathers are illuminated beautifully wit the sun shining through them. The detail in her dress and hair is astounding. He expression is shown as soft and caring but it also has a sense of concern that shows through. This is a beautiful piece that definitely deserves all the stars it got e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>.

First off, let me just say that this is a absolutely outstanding drawing! It looks very elegant, and it is quite beautiful. I think you did the lighting in the drawing very well, and I love all the tiny details that you put in the background. Now, on the angel, I just love the way you did the hair, eyes, and dress. They are all very beautiful. I like the way you made the dress sorta see-through, it really shows off her form in my opinion. All in all, I think this was a really good drawing and I have really nothing negative to say about it ❤

This is one of the most beautiful drawings I have ever seen! It's amazing! The detail is lovely, as is the lighting and shading. It isn't all fuzzy it is very original and the impact on me is just amazing she is like the perfect angel!

First the lighting. The lighting is nicely done and just very elegant. It could make someone cry if they were listening to something sad. It is an emotional drawing... In a very good way e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Originality is very good the fact that someone with an imagination like mine coulden't have thought of it was very odd I love this keep up the good work!

First off, I don't know whether it was intensional or not but the cloud coming out from behind the girl looks slightly like a dove/angel wing which I think is quite clever how you have possibly sneakily popped that in their. I am rather impressed with the lighting and the smooth ripples on the clothing. The hair is rather beautiful the light on the single strands adds a rather soothing motion. The attention to the detail in the clouds is brilliant, I know how difficult clouds can be to draw. I would suggest that the arm was drawn in a more relaxed pose, because I tried posing this way and as it is perfectly possible it is quite a stiff and unrelaxed pose. But your choice of earthly and then a white dress is quite appealing to the eyes. But I definitely commend you for the lighting. The red eyes are quite haunting for a relaxing piece like this one. And I would need to look at a photo for perspective so I may be wrong but the legs seem to be a little high on the waist. But all together this is a relaxing and beautiful piece and very well done.

The job you did on shading and creating the transparency on the cloths is absolutely phenomenal; don't give up working on that, it's EXCELLENT work.
In addition, the work you did on the sky and clouds is fantastic, and the way you manipulated the cloud showing above her left shoulder is beautifully done; allowing it to look like a wing added a great touch to the overall feeling of the picture.
The addition, as well, of the falling feathers/petals also contributes greatly to the flow the the work, allowing it to guide the eyes from the forefront to the main focus (the face and background region); both of which you did masterfully, and only accentuates the idea of the cloud being an angel wing.
The only qualm I would say with this picture would be the angle of her arm; the twist that it has is semi-unnatural, and seems as if it would be forced into that position. Other than that, her physical layout is fantastic, showing a soft figure, but possessing more character and personality than just being someone/something to look at.
-I think she deserves a good back story e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="357" title="Heart"/>
Overall: 9.9/10, I wouldn't harsh too hard on the arm because it's not a major focus (other than the hand being a focal point on the visual movement), and because it doesn't detract from the beauty of the piece at all. Excellent job.

What I really loved about this was the softness (especially that gown/dress she was wearing!!!) of the subject you portrayed and how their beauty was enhanced by the palette you chose, the background, and where you placed the light source. You did indeed a terrific job shading this vision. It's stunning! Angel is a fitting title e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/> The texture of her hair contrasted well with the clouds (or is that a wing?) and her skin. You also captured her expression very well. My favorite thing is are the roses on her dress. However, there seems to be something off about the way she is twisting around. Her body is positioned perfectly up until the waist, where it seems like you switched from a back view abruptly to a side view (check your proportions, maybe?). It might just be the way you draw people but it nagged me a little. Also, there seems to be another light source coming in from the bottom right of the picture, since there are more rays slanting in at a different angle than the source in the background. That subtracted to the impact a bit. But overall, good job! <3

Well first off let me sa, I love the lighting! The dress looks very nice with the shading and transparency, and I really like how you did the hair!
Moving on, the pose is a bit awkward. The position of shoulder implies than her torso is facing more towards the screen (let's just say camera, as if this were a picture). If she was looking over her shoulder, more of her back would be showing and it would be mostly her head rotating. If you wanted to keep the torso where it is, then her pelvis and legs would be a big more turned towards the camera rather than facing away (or it would take a bit of straining to keep them in that position).
Just another note, her fingers seem to have one more joint than most I believe.
Regarding the better aspects, her expression is very soft and nice, and I love how the clouds behind her look like wings. Speaking of the clouds, they look brilliant and really help set the mood!
Overall it's a gorgeous piece and it's one of those few that really make you feel like you're there in the setting! Originality wise, angels seem to be a very popular theme, but I like how it was more implied here with the cloud wings and innocent vibe, rather than just straight out drawing an angel.
Sorry for the long critique! Hope you like it, and keep up the awesome art!
