Um, yeah. Not sure exactly how I feel about this one. There are parts that I love, and parts that I don't.

I was watching A Walk to Remember for the 800th time the other night. I used to be so obsessed with that movie! Anyways, after seeing it again I decided to dig up some of the songs from the soundtrack again to put on my mp3 player. I was listening to Cry by Mandy Moore when cleaning stalls the next day and it reminded me of when I decided to buy Penny.

I wasn't looking at horses the day I first saw her. My mom and I were at a sheep farm and I saw two horses grazing in the distance. My mom asked the owner about them and as it turned out, they were for sale, so we headed over to have a look.

They were mother and daughter, "Joyce" and Grace. Joyce was around 10 and Grace was 2. My mom and I had never seen anything like them before, they were so unique looking! However, they really weren't what I had in mind for a horse. I wanted something I could win with, as I was really into hunter/jumpers at the time. Still, they were gorgeous, I decided to come back and test ride Joyce. Grace wasn't broke yet.

So we went back a few times for me to test ride Joyce. I liked her. She reminded me of two of my favourite horses, Cally and Emma, rolled into one. But still, I wanted a show horse and I didn't think Joyce was one.

The last time I test rode her, after I was done, the owner and my mom went into the house for something, and it was just the two of us. The last few times I was done Joyce would run off to find her daughter again. This time she stayed back. It was a cloudy evening and she just stood, kind of staring at the sky, then at me, then at the sky. It was weird, but really cool at the same time. That was when I fell in love with her and decided to buy her (and Grace, since she came with her). Of course I had to change her name. I decided on Penny because she was covered in penny coloured spots. And, as it turned out, Penny was the best damn horse I ever rode. She jumped better than any other horse I've ever ridden to date.

Wow, long story. Anywho, this is a fairly simple manip. I'm very happy with how Penny turned out. Love her mane. I painted it on myself and it looks pretty much exactly like her real mane. The tail looks a little weird, but that's Penny for you. So yeah, I like the tail, too. And I love the forelock. Penny's forelock is this fluffy dark puff of hair. I used fur brushes for it. I also painted the eye and for once, I'm really happy with that.

It's the rest of the picture that I don't really like, the non-Penny parts. I don't know, maybe it's just because it's a little plain or maybe there's something really off that I can't put my finger on. I'll let you guys be the judge of that.

Comments and/or favs are both welcomed and encouraged. Critiques are also loved. I rarely go back to rework a finished manip, but I always take what you guys say into consideration for my future works.
