Another chance, another closing door
What good are dreams when they crumble to the floor
Sometimes I wonder if it's always been this way
And I've got a feeling up and down is here to stay

Come what may, I'll be waiting for it
I know the wind that brought it didn't mean me any harm
Come what may, it won't really matter
If it's got to be that way, it's OK
Come what may

I had an entirely different concept and entirely different lyrics picked out for this one. But, while I was working on this I was watching reruns of Fame (never a good sign ). I love the one where Danny starts taking speed so he can work at a night club but he leaves the bottle on his night stand and wonders how his dad finds them. Then his dad gets him fired from the club and Danny sings this song. He can't sing! It's hilarious! He can't ding but in almost every episode they give him a solo or, better yet, a duet with the cast members who can sing, which only makes him sound worse. But he's so cute, every time he opens his mouth I just want to pinch his cheeks and say "aww, look. He's trying to sing!" Yeah, Danny is the reason I like the TV show version of Fame more than the movie.

Anyways, getting back on subject here, once you get past the cheek pinching part of Danny's song and actually listen to it, it's actually a really nice song, especially considering it's from an 80's TV show. Come what may, it's pretty much my way of life. I tend to take everything in stride. Very few events in my life have really shaken me up and affected me.

Yeah, lightning. That was the biggie. Lightning took the lives of three of my horses, so it's kind of hard to keep a come what may attitude towards it. But the second I heard that song I thought of it, and I knew I had to change my manip to reflect that.

Overall, I love this one. I drew in the mane and tail again. I'm not too fond of the mane, but I love the tail. I tried to make it look more flowing like many of you guys suggested in my Footloose manip. I also recoloured the horse from a flaxen chestnut. After recolouring I had to do a bit of shading to the horse, which was a first for me so I'm pretty proud of the shading. I don't love how the lightning turned out, though. Also, because my original concept involved sunshine, it's pretty obvious that the clouds aren't storm clouds. It was a spur of the moment change, though, and my sister was on the internet so I couldn't get a new sky picture. I didn't want to wait because I was worried I would lose the drive to finish this, so I did what I could.

Thank you for the nice comments.
I used rain brushes to make the rain. You can probably find some here on DA, under the resources section.

Beautiful. I mean seriously darling beautiful. I love it. And you know what I thought that horse looked familiar, but I couldn't place it cause you did such a good job recoloring!!! I did figure it out though I've used it before :] So for the lightning the little strands look good, the big oones are just a little too big you know, and maybe try having them in the darker center of the cloud, I don't think lightning comes from the light edges. I LOVE the tail! I think your problem witht the mane is that it is too conformed, make it flow a little more and look abit more natural. Last thing :] The grass around the horse's feet, it is too tall on the front leg that is back for the other foot to even be seen, unless he is coming out of a really tall stand of grass, and a few strands reach around the front leg at the knee going in the oppisite direction of the other grass around it. well I think that was acctually three things..... oh well. Nice work :] <3

Thank you so much!
Lol, I definitely know very little about lightning so all those tips are very helpful. Same goes for the mane. And I'm pretty sure I understand what you're saying about the grass. The one front leg has so much grass on it that the forward front leg should have more grass as well? Lol, and for the record, I think I did a pretty good job cutting out the hooves this time, but unfortunately it would have looked really stupid if I left them uncovered altogether.
Anyways, thank you again for the critique. I'm so glad you like it.

I always love it :] and yes I think that's what I meant. Hard to tell, I can be a little foggy at times. And yes the one hoof I can see looks really good and I do agree that it would look funny with no hooves in the grass :]

Great job on the recolouring! The mane and tail on this one are really well done!
For the sky, try taking the burn tool and where it says 'midtones' set it to 'highlights' and run it over the clouds to make them look gray and more like storm clouds. Another thing you could do is run the sponge tool set to 'desaturate' over the sky to make it less blue and more gray.
Hmm... the lightning looks a bit.. off. Maybe because it's just hitting the field... try making it smaller and making it hit the mountain right behind it, so it looks more natural?
Love, love, LOVE the eye!
The mountains in the very back are a bit blurry at the top, try taking a hard brush(or the pen tool, that thing works wonders xD) to cut them out instead, or if you blurred them yourself, try the sharpen tool along the edges.

Heh.. Heh. Sorry, got a little carried away there. Hope you don't mind my critique. This manip is truly amazing, and each time I tell you one of yours is my favourite, you just top it every single time.

Awww, I'm so, so sorry about your horses.

Are you kidding? Of course I don't mind your critiques, they really help. Thanks so much.
Especially thanks for the critique on the lightning. I knew it was off, but I had no idea why. Same goes with the sky. Well, I knew why that was off but I didn't know how to fix it lol. As for the mountains, I probably should have used a harder brush to cut them out. I don't have the pen tool, though, since I just have PS Elements.
Anyways, thank you so much. I'm glad you like it.

Definitely. I'm thinking of buying actual Photoshop after Christmas, though. It depends how much Christmas money I have left after buying myself a new DVD player.

I guess not having much of a life right now is really helping my maniping skills right now.
