yes me again, I used to have an osprey nest near my house when I was a child. I love these birds they are just so majestic to me they are just one of my favorite birds. I was trying to get the nature conservency to come out and see them because they were nesting and just had a small clutch of 3 eggs. it was just such a momentous occation for me because this was the first time I actually got to see eggs hatch in front of my eyes. I had grown quite attached to these birds after the fact and would watch them from a distance from my house. About a year later developers came in and tore down the tree that the nest was on. I had tried for over a year to help these birds out but they didn't seem to want to take their time to come and help at all. I am still very mad at place I contacted to help me out with these wonderful birds, I will still not contribe to the Nature Conservency to this day I am so pissed. I go out there each year and lay a small wreath in mourning for the loss of these wonderful birds. (yes yes I"ll stop now I rant a little too much I think.)

What a sad story. It's a shame they wouldn't protect these birds. I'm so glad that you tried. That must have been something extra special to see the eggs hatch. Thanks for telling me the story.

welcome, and yes it was. I have the pictures of them somewhere I just don't remember where. I stayed at a distance so not as to disrupt the mother and the clutch but it sure was something. But so much of virginia is already zoned and preplanned for population growth and the like but they never take into consideration what they are doing to the environment. one of the sole reasons I am so hard on VA is that I called them several times to be able to have people move them closer to the water so that they would have a better source of food and the like. aargh sorry going on again. one of these days I will make a change, make a difference so that this doesn't happen again.

It is. I remember seeing a few in Florida when I went with my friend, but they do not seem to be camera-orientated. Lovely shot.

So, they nest up here and winter with you! Great shot! I take so many flying shots of them, but just not close enough.
