This one is really interesting, especially considering that vultures were considered to be maternal creatures by ancient cultures. Don't laugh...they're very dedicated parents who don't venture far from their young until the chicks are strong enough to leave the nest.
So, in a way, this swingset was sort of blessed by the vulture's presence.

Yay another vulture lover! I know it is rare in my state for people to like the scavengers, but they are an important part of the ecosystem and they are needed to be able to keep things stable in any given place. Wonderful shot btw I have to say it is nice to see you have healthy looking vultures.

you are sooo lucky to be able to take a pic like that. the population of vultures here in my state is so bad it's so low. people don't watch what they are doing and hit these wonderful birds and it just makes me want to cry.

ah, well I rant and rave about Virginia too much at times. it has gotten a lot better now then it was in the past. They have such organizations like wildlife rehabilitation which I think are great. Southern Virginia is a completely different story all together.

what!? that's just stupid. Virginia has gotten a lot better over the past 25 years from what I understand, we have some of the strictest laws aginst animal cruelty in the nation but our wildlife regulations are a bit more lax. We try our best to work and help injured animals no matter what they are but some animals just get sub standard treatment because they are not companion animals. But I try to volunteer as much as possible. one of these days I would love to be able to become a wildlife rehabilitator and help all of these animals be introduced back into the wild.

Yes well I need to get money for that first. it costs much more then I am making at this moment in time unfortunately. There is quite the long process to be able to become a wild life rehabilitator. one of these days I'll have my photography pay for my other hobbies.
