Result of 'painting' light with a torch onto the scene during a long exposure.
This little island was just paradise. Has to be one of my favourite places on this whole world! It was peaceful (just us researchers and scientists, and a few village people who would help look after us as a form of income), with clear waters and at night, a warm breeze which you could sit out on the pier at night and relax, just staring at the stars and the Milky Way Galaxy (although this night was surprisingly cloudy).
