This one took me a hellova long time to finish. I actually abandoned the picture for about a month as I was stuck in a rut on the background colouring technique.
Not going for real realistic here :} just my own style.
I was inspired and given a creative jump start by ~kaleadora and ~Okami-Kodokuna by their wonderful podcat artworks done recently: [link] [link]
Nothing gives me more pleasure than to see my brainchild species wondering the artwork of DA. Quite frankly if people draw podcats I usually get inspired to.. so if you want to see more podcats from me -winkwinknudgenudge-.
Bear in mind with this picture that the evoloution of the podcats is set way in the future when the polar icecaps have melted and alot of the world's landmass has been lost to the seas. The weather is still in chaos from the magnitude of the change. Many species have died out and more have evolved to cope making new animals to make use of their surroundings.
After the great war with the humans the podcats reign supreme at the top of the food chain. Pockets of humanity surviving here and there still eking out an existance.

A kitten! I love him, he's adorable. He's got the slightly floppy, big-pawed look of young big cats. The background is just fantastic - the trees on the islands are perfect and they made my eyes boggle. The clouds are great, too, and my favorite part is that flower there in the left foreground, especially where the foremost leaf connects to the stem. Lovely.

This is magnificent work. The anatomy of the podcat clearly speaks to me as a young animal, the kitten-like structure is well executed. The layout of this pic, along with the colours are great, I especially love the addition of the Bird of Paradise flower, it adds just the right amount of colour and doesn't allow the plants to be forgotten when looking at it. Fantastic work.

Lovely drawing! I love how you have done the podcats but i don't like those lines in the description. They finger point and kind of remind how some whiney eco people make little poems on how evil humanity is.

Well the way things are going now with humanity and the environment, if things don't change drastically the polar icecaps will melt and we will loose alot of our land. In the scene/story of the podcats I have yet to write, they take place after the turmoil of the earth is slowly settling, the weather and natural disasters would most likely be catastrophic! The only ones we can really blame are ourselves, because if we never existed the earth would remain unpollouted, no holes in the ozone layer and not steadily enduring fluctuating climate change.
Basically if you were a podcat (hypothetically) evolving and coming into existance over thousands of years in a torn and harsh world.. wouldn't you speak of the humans as thus? ((they did also have a war with humanity xD but thats getting too far into it)).
