You wanted podcats? You got it! They certainly won the popularity vote on the poll by a landslide.I finished this sketch I brought down here with me rather laboriously in Oc1.1 on account of only having 2 layers to go on with.
A Male podcat of lower ranking in the pride plays the roll of mentor and teacher for the first part of a new kitten's life. They Teach the next generation how to communicate, socialise and learn them of the dangers in the immediate environment.
Once these things are taught and the kittens have matured more they are sent to be taugth by the females of matters of dominance, pride and the hunt. Once they are taught these and have grown to adolescents they are permitted to visit the elders and priests to be taught of their history, future and of the Creator.
Not all males are happy at being chosen as the kitten chew toy xP

Podkittens! Man, Holly, everything you draw looks so effortless. The poses are completely natural, the anatomy spot-on and believable...it's like you really have these creatures lounging around your house and you're just taking snapshots. It's awesome! All those fins in the same picture look wonderful. Podcats are so pretty.

except thats no mama xD thats the equivalent of a 25 year old brother looking after his kid siblings lol. Yeah for alot of my dark pics the people with low contrast/older monitors have trouble seeing the shading and details

Awwwwwwws. Cute! It's interesting that their pods are fully developed even though they're just kittens, and that they don't look very kitten-ish (big eyes, big ears, big paws), but rather like miniature versions of the adults.

not really, if you go about looking at most kittens/cubs of big feline species they all have large paws, large ears and eyes to grow into a large feline, not like domestic cats which these aren't :}

Let me see if I can remember how the social ranking is. If I recall, it was the females who ruled the pride, with single female queen at the top... right? It's been over a year since I've read the reference, so I'm just trying to see if I remembered correctly.

...Hehe but either way beautiful work on this one. The facial expressions, intricate details and fine-tuned anatomy is what makes it so commendable. Those are your greatest strengths, and they come out clear in this picture. Great job!
This is totally unrelated to the picture, but one thing I've always wondered is what would happen if something pierced a podcat's pod? I don't remember reading about that in their reference, so I'm sorry if I missed it. But would they bleed their usual acidic flood, or...?

You are right though, each pride of up to 30 individuals has a dominant leading female, the queen. They worship a deity which is also a feminine figure. Males are considered lower in the chain because they cannot hunt as efficiently but are territorial warriors despite their smaller size, they make up the numbers of the pride and teach/care for the kittens. There is no like.. mortal matriach of all the prides like England's queen x3n glass
Good question! I'd have a pic to show you of someone's odcat character with a broken light but alas shes moved and the pic is gone. I'll explain:
Podcats lights are harder than glass and harder than most kinds of rock due to the darbon composition in the podcat DNA (which also allows them to support acidic blood). Though very rare a podcats light's can be cracked or even smashed open. The lights are basically pockets of blood in the fins giving energy to these outlying 'limbs'. If one breaks the wound heals and clots on the inside so only that portion of blood that was inside the light at the time was lost. They ofcourse loose the glow in that hollow shell left behind and experience numbness and certain restriction of movement in that fin.
Thing is theres a buncha stuff not n the reference otherwhise it would just be so huge xD so I go about answering questions as they come to me or writing more info on podcats in each new pic I do of them, kinda like an expanding documentary ^^ i'd like to illustrate a little book full of podcat facts like those little fact-file books on dogs or something.

Thank you for answering my questions! It's so interesting how intricately thought-out your podcats are. With such a wide array of information one would think multiple references are possible. My fursona NeoRibbontail herself has muscle charts and bone diagrams in her reference, and she's not even that complicated. To make an "internal" reference for podcats would be phenominal!
