Description this is our male cat hunter, who has become feral and only comes home sometimes for food, but won't let us pet him anymore. for a long time, he stayed around the house and he and the rabbit would play together outside... the rabbit literaly would run up to the cat and they would jump all around each other. but we hardly ever see hunter these days ... :/

we still put food out for him and hear him mrowl... he's pretty loud. but always runs away like we're big meanies or something. but... i don't know if i wrote this in the description, he just never was cuddly with us past his babyhood

Well he still "feels" some sort of relationship with you or he wouldn't keep coming around. It's amazing how different every animal is, isn't it?

hmmm... might be. on the other hand, we're the only supplier of cat food for miles around. i suppose THAT might be the draw

I was browsing through your gallery, you've got some really nice stuff! I really like this picture of the cat - and the comment 'bout rabbits is amusing. We used to have some rabbits that thought they were cats, I swear... they'd eat the catfood and sleep on the top part of the couch! And would chase the cats around the house.... rabbits are weeeeirrddd creatures!

But this shot really looks wild - not feral, wild! haha Which is why I think it was such a good shot!

tee hee... thanks for browsing through my gallery - glad you enjoyed it. and, yeah, rabbits are so much weirder and more interesting than anyone would imagine who hasn't had one around

Awww...sorry to hear about you not seeing Hunter for so long. Ive had a cat named Hunter once...he would practically bring dead rats to our doorstep and lay it squarely on the welcome mat...man, my mom seriously was grossed out by that..he probably thought by bringingthe dead rats it was a compensation for the food and shelter we were giving him....hehehe weird cat But he was crazy too though, very very wild...died a few years ago Though anyway, my cat Adam would soo grow up to look somewhat like that...though Adams a female kitten (dont ask about the name ) Hunter even has the same hooked tail like Adam! I think... [link]

funny you had a cat named hunter too... and that he really was a hunter, and wild also - but, no hooked tail - it just happened to be behind him at that moment

and,ok, i won't ask about adams's name

well, he still did at that time. it was only after he became a "man" so to speak, and discovered the sheepherder's female cats a mile away from us, that he went wild.

yes, there is snow all around. i guess it had melted from the rock - maybe the rock absorbs sunlight more than the ground does. and thanks, i love his fur pattern too

ah... your cat is now feral. he is mostly wild now, only comes home sometimes to eat and then leave?

I love his stance. He is the king of his jungle, that being your neighborhood. Cats are cool creatures.

this cat really IS an alpha male - very muscular and masculine. i think that's part of the reason he became so aloof. we actually got him (well, i was able to talk my husband into letting us get another cat) because we desperately needed a mouser - our house was overrun by mice, and my old cat minka, who used to hunt, would just sit, as my husband said, "on my lap and watch while the mice danced on the cabinets." anyway, he was a great mouser, even as a small kitten, but i guess he decided he wanted to go onto hunting for bigger and better things... and, ahem, our "neighborhood" is the mountains, with hundreds of unpopulated miles around us, except for a mile down the road where there are a few families

I have two ferrets Boo Boo and Katie, now in the wild Ferrets feed on mice, but I know if my two came across a mouse in the house they would invite him over for tea.

now in the wild? did they escape?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RileyRican In reply to zasu [2006-01-28 20:49:09 +0000 UTC]

no no. Ferrets that live in the wild eat mice. No mine are still in their cage in my room. They wouldn't make it one day out in the wild, they aren't even afraid of my dogs.

i love ferrets

They are a lot of fun. I have one that whimpers in her sleep, I have no idea what ferrets dream about.

That's a brilliant picture, I thought he was a bobcat at first. It's really funny how bunnies and cats end up getting along sometimes. My old rabbit used to beat up the cats... then they got to be pretty decent friends.

zasu In reply to RecharuKua [2006-01-28 02:43:45 +0000 UTC]

i think it worked because they were both young... and bored... together. the bunny didn't want to hang with us much, but i think she was intrigued by the idea of something that was furry and the same size as herself.
