Description is there anyone you have left?
AP piece number.... 7?? 7. I didn't post 5 or 6 because i didn't like em but I'll,,, probably do it sometime..... man #5 was so bad though

deadass though sometimes I get so frustrated with my AP concentration topic because it's so limiting, other times I feel so satisfied with it because it is so cathartic. like all the things I feel that I can't put into words or talk to anybody about just. bam. in art form, communicated. this is my therapy

some? notes I guess!:
the composition here places the viewer in a specific place in this empty train station, beyond the light, safely nestled in the shadows. the angles stretch into the unknown, guiding the viewer's eyes into the centre of the canvas to simultaneously comprehend how utterly alone they are and the sudden dropoff from light into darkness within the distance. what is out there?
the coyote then comes into play. subtle, with mixed intentions, the viewer locks eyes with it as more of an afterthought. you thought you were alone here, but there was someone else all along, and they ask: "who are you waiting for?"
This question started as i originally attempted to mimic the wistful sadness of waiting for somebody who would never arrive. I took inspiration partly from Hachiko, the dog who waited at a train station for his deceased owner until his own death. there's no hope of this person coming, symbolized in the emptiness of the station, and yet you're here anyway--and the coyote is intended to symbolize that nagging, cynical, jaded part of your mind. it's the piece of you that knows that there is nothing for you here, so why dare hope?
the train station is a liminal space, defined as the time between "what was" and "what is next." a threshold of waiting and what comes after. originally, I desired "waiting for love" then, realizing you aren't the kind of person within whose story "love" is a tangible idea, and thus, "moving on" and giving up. as I progressed, i realized that the usage of the coyote in a previous piece (I'll link it below) linked it with death and passing, so I guess this adopted a dual meaning of the unknown of death beyond the light. the coyote being a spectre of the inevitable, and the distance between being far enough to feel safe yet too close for comfort.
I feel like I have a lot of ideas about this one that *work* but no concrete "this is exactly what it means." hopefully I'll come up with something o/

edit: forgot to draw the pole for an entire ass light

wOAH I love this perspective work! The grunge texture gives it so much?? lack of lifelessness that you were trying to convey. It definitely feels like a vacant space, showing the passage of time and how it degrades on ones self its JUST SO GOOD

God, that’s cool. As someone who can’t draw backgrounds for their life, this always amazes me. Any tips you’d give for someone who wants to start making scenery like this?

!!!! im actually so flattered thank you!?
it’s really important to use a lot of references! If you’re not sure how to do something don’t try to fake it, a reference will always make it easier. I wanted to focus more on the structure of this one rather than the colors bc it was a lot harder, so I did the whole thing in black and white and added the colors afterwards on a separate layer. and if you need to, tracing over a photo that you took for the background elements is valid too!

The messages behind your assignments always hit home for me??? Heckin, that coyote is so well placed, I felt so on edge looking past the train station !!!
I feel like you captured that feeling of loneliness really wellΒ
