while the tiger one is vivid and stunning,(and i love tigers, so that helps)this one is both simpler and more complex, the feathers and eye makeup are what pops out right away-lovely adjustment of the feathersbtw-and the fly, eye, and eyeliner all add more depth to this already stunning piece with contrast. the powder was also a wise addition, giving it a "light" touch, all in all, a masterpiece of it's own. ^-^

I don't usually rate critiques so high, and I've seen a lot of your other works and passed up writing one (even the amazing 'After Hunt,' mostly because I was too squeamish to stare at that eye for too long), but this is really just incredible. I actually usually get pretty pissed when other people just put five stars for everything, but I'm just so 'wowed' by this one.
Vision: You are an artist. Who would have seen a dead fly in the window and said to themselves, "hey, let's put that on my eye" ?
Originality: Really the most stunning aspect of this work. Building on the point I made in Vision, I don't think anyone would have associated a dead fly with red feathers; who knew they worked together so well? Not only did you combine them beautifully, you had the idea, which was totally original.
Technique: I don't know much about eye makeup, but your attention to detail really just blows my mind here. I love how you pulled together a 'rugged' tone by not smoothing the barbs on the feathers, and sprinkling them with white; I love how the red and white makeup is dry and ridged to keep that imperfect feel, despite it being truly perfect; I love how the ends of the eyelashes are white, so they don't throw off the balance of the picture and instead add just a touch of darkness. I can't commend you enough.
Impact: I never give anyone fives stars. Ever. This is a fantastic piece, made all the more captivating with the addition of the fly, an amazingly creative twist on eye makeup.
My only criticism would probably be that the makeup above the eye probably extends just a little too far upwards and draws some attention away from the upper half of the piece. But you know what? I wouldn't change a thing.

I really enjoy this piece for many reasons.
First of all, the colors. Amongst all of the red and white painted on the feathers and face, which almost makes the eye look like the center of a target, the metallic blue-green of the fly and most of the eye is electrifying! The red that bleeds from the iris is creative as well and makes it appear to mimic the entire picture.
The originality is definitely seen here, as in all of your works. The use of an insect to create such beauty? Love it!
And the lighting, a bit dark, fits the mood perfectly.
Overall, I think you did an amazing job with this!
