Do not read past this sentance if you are prone to envy. I have: 4 shiny Spiritomb (2 in white 2, 1 in platinum, 1 in soulsilver); shiny Metagross, shiny Swampert, shiny Volcarona, shiny Porygon-Z (has the fateful encounter flag), Shiny Hydreigon, shiny Regigigas and shiny Regis, 2 shiny Koffing (see Shiny Koffing Weirdness for their story), shiny Magnimite (found in a wild double battle with 2 SHINY MAGNIMITE O.O yeah, that weirded me out) shiny Crobat, shiny Ho-Oh, shiny Latias and shiny Latios, shiny lake trio, and shiny Arceus. The first six on this shiny list are in my party in their respective games. And yet, in spite of my luck with shiny PokΓ©mon on the DS/DSi series, I STILL haven't found any shiny other than Gyarados in gen 2 & 3ξ. Maybe the older games just don't like me as much as the newer ones do, if they haven't given me a shiny encounter outside the Lake of Rage. And I'm saying "shiny" a lot, because "shiny" is just so fun to say, but I should stop saying "shiny" so much before I become hooked on saying "shiny".

I didn't get B2/W2 because I was too disappointed in them. Just a sequel to the first. Though yes I'd like to know what happened to N and Ghetsis but I want a new region to explore plus new pokemon.

Your name in gen 1 uses hexadecimals. Wild PokΓ©mon encounters use hexadecimals. When the game pulls up the Old Man, it stores your name in the wild PokΓ©mon encounters. After the demonstration, you name is copied back to where it was before, but the copy in the wild PokΓ©mon data isn't overwritten until you go somewhere that has wild PokΓ©mon data for grass. When you walk anywhere that's designated as grass, but has no data of its own, the game will pull up what was last there. In this case, the hexadecimal for your name. Every charactor in your name has a hexadecimal digit. Since a lot of them correspond to an empty slot with no PokΓ©mon, the game throws out an error handler, hence this "PokΓ©mon's" name: the error message "MISSINGNO.".
