The markings were originally going to be based off the Picasso Trigger Fish, but I deviated from that less than a third of the way through, haha.

The markings remind me a lot more of an orca mixed with a fire salamander. Not by much, but it's what I immediately thought of with having spots and the color of the dorsal side of the dragon. But dragons are the perfect specimens to mix and match existing traits for, right?
That being said I really adore how its markings are incredibly unique but also very natural-looking. I especially like how it has a blue spot and cooler colors on the dorsal side and more warm colors on its ventral side. It's really eye-appealing and makes the creature look like it would be able to startle potential predators with that. Sudden warm colors when the wings start flapping up would be quite a startling sight!
I also have a soft spot for wings that connect far down passed the hip joints of the dragon. With the right design it can be quite a huge enhancement to its being.
Aaa, anyway your creature designs are fantastic! Keep up the good work. :D

This dragon in particular is breath taking, his stance & composition are gorgeous. The arrangement of the piece as a whole is marvelous and the background is blended to perfection. β₯
