An image for my upcoming how-to-draw dragons book, DragonArt: Evolution, out this August
The markings were originally going to be based off the Picasso Trigger Fish, but I deviated from that less than a third of the way through, haha.

I really like the colours of the wings and the shape of the drake's fins. The shape of the wings, with the sort of frilly bits towards the bottom there, is really nice too. And the pose is pretty epic.
The only thing that kinda bugs me is that the wing at the back looks a tad off... it's sort of placed higher up than the other wing, but the side of the body it's coming from is angled downwards, so it looks like it should be lower. The wing fingery things don't look like they match, with the finger on the outside edge looking like the shortest finger on the wing in the background, while it's the longest one on the wing in the foreground. It could just be the proportions appearing to change due to perspective, though, but it just doesn't look quite right to me.
I will definitely be checking this book out if I can find it though. :3

Nice! The patterns on the wings really compliment the rest of the body
And just asking, what program do you use to paint? Because I always have trouble doing lineart on my cheap out-dated Photoshop

Really random, but have you noticed that the search function on this site doesnt seem to work anymore? I type in "dragon" or whatever into the search box and it just goes the the random "browse" stuff or whatever... really frustrating! = P

it looks good but i think i would classify it under a wyvern, instead of a drake. drakes are usually considered wingless
