Description The inhabitants of the bayou knew about the legends, the stories surrounding the ghost skulking the swamps when the fog settled in by day and night. Overwhelming stories of this entity surfacing from its watery grave, hunting for the living souls of the swamp, strangely enough it did not bother the folks here. It was hunting something particular that we were unable to decipher. It was methodical and made sense only for the entity. This ghost sometimes spoke. A broken language expressed through the static of its radio. It sounded like old broadcasts of airplanes pilots from during the war, except they were distorted..as if it was taking different samples of voices and tried to make sentences out of it. At night we can hear these creepy voices, like souls trapped in the static.

New drawing guys. You all liked the previous artwork I have shared of The Mask character when it was surfacing from the muddy waters of the swamps and I promised that another one would come so here it is. For this one I wanted to expend more on the physical aspect of the character, its outfit trying to give it a ww2 military feel, the mask which is the most important part of the character as for the two round pieces of metal looking like iris. And of course, the little piece of lore behind it: I had this concept of having the character speak through the distorted radio packed in the bag on the front. I love silent antagonists but there is something interesting about having to deal with something that speaks through repurposed samples of forgotten and dead radio transmissions.

I think the radio sound clip sampling as a form of communication is a great concept. It reminds me of Steven Universe where Lapis was stuck in a mirror that could replay anything it had witnessed, so she learned to communicate by combining things people said at different times.

Ohh I wish I knew about it sooner!! But yeah that's kind of the idea, I was a bit inspired by EVPs and how distorted voices were quite creepy and at the same time by old radio broadcasts, creepy and interesting!
