As kid I always loved the concept behind the scissor hands in the movie and how they managed to look like hands, but at the same time be fully functional scissors, and I honestly think you caught that very well with those details. The realism on this it’s like watching a picture.

You’re very talented.

great piece dude, both hugely technical and atmospheric.
I notice you said you use createx reduced and run it through an Iwata HP-CH, what do you reduce it with and what kind of psi are you using?
I'm struggling to get both consistent flow and no overspray with mine

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MikeLangston In reply to Malchiar [2010-11-19 23:30:26 +0000 UTC]

i use regular tap water , i put my paint in a non wax dixie cup , reduce it , then stir it good with a end of a paint brush, then spray. And i use about 25-30 psi.

yea black reduced from 3000% to 30% , works great , give it a try sometime !!

Koi-top In reply to MikeLangston [2010-07-25 19:48:59 +0000 UTC]

definetly gonna try it, i have tried progressing from lighter grey to black, but not happy with the result.

Your result speaks for itself

MikeLangston In reply to Koi-top [2010-07-25 19:56:12 +0000 UTC]

The davy jones peice is like that, 5 diffrent greys and black and white so 7 colors. But i perfer the hard reduced black better. Im doing a peice right now thats over reduced black. Im just kickin it painting and listing to some tunes. So sorry if theres a delay in btween my messages. But i also like to work with many greys aswell. Let me know if you want a copy of the Davy Jones Tutorial for the group. People really liked it cause alot of people that work with diffrent shades of grey there colors muddy up fast when they do there highlights with white. So i try to explain the corrent way to use greay with adding highlights.

Koi-top In reply to MikeLangston [2010-07-25 20:15:54 +0000 UTC]

My problem maybe was i "jumped" too much between color and color so it looked unrealistic, im not very good at realistic things, but its one of the first things in my to-do lists also i love the black technique because i dont have to worry so much about getting the correct shade but a correct reduction (wich i find easier)

Of course‘‘‘ submit anything that may be helpful, youre free to do it, the group is meant so we all can add and build a nice "database" of custom stuff. Im figured as the admin because i created but i dont want to control anything, members should be free to add as much as they want.

Let me know if you want to be admin, it may be easier to control the group submissions with 2 people

MikeLangston In reply to Koi-top [2010-07-25 20:35:04 +0000 UTC]

sure if you need the help i can help you. Ill put about 3 more hours into this peice im doing then ill start on something for the group , a few tuorials , then ill do a journal on my page to bring in other custom airbrushers. Im sure it will be very popular with our kind of people. as well as we will get alot of watchers from it. Also i have a way of doing free adcasting that ill run for a couple days for our group. Just send me the ID and password in a private message and ill get started in 3 hours. Let me know if you have any other ideas.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Koi-top In reply to MikeLangston [2010-07-25 21:17:09 +0000 UTC]

Sure, dont need to worry

Theres no ID and Password i will move you to the admin group asap so you can also control the gallery entries submissions, journal and all the stuff.

I hope we get a lot of people because i see lots of custom stuff all around DA but no group for them.

The idea of the ads and tutorials is really nice!! Im currently cleaning up and preaparing a few of my past works to fill the gallery and attract some atention,

lets fill it up since its full‘‘‘

No, didnt received anything :S, try to submit it from the deviation page in the "+" button that says submit to group, the submit art button from the group page doesnt seem to work for me :S.

good luck with your piece, i would like to paint something one day that i dont run into problems with xD

In a few hours ill probably be sleeping lol,

But thats better, that way we have admin at 2 different timezones.

BTW just moved you to Co-Founder aka Admin group, i think you have to accept it or sumthing
