Arts are hardly considered art nowadays... Most common people appreciate the contents, not the details... It's sad to know such, but I just try to accept it...
Even so, thank you for reminding me...
I was just trying to entertain the majority by following the poll. I wasn't aware that some will find them offensive.

That's true. People, today, think that Art is Art 'cause you used your imagination and you came with a final 'cool drawing'... Art is not only that.
You can't make Art if you don't practice enough. It is not about the context but the skills of the painter. Ya' know... Anatomical proportion, perspective, color, composition and such. If you domain this areas, then you're an Artist. What you do is Art.
Maybe there is the best idea in the whole world flying around your mind trying to scape from there and show itself to the world, but if your skills aren't good enough, then you will not be able to do it. That idea won't caught the world's attention.
It is as simple as taking a look to this drawing. The context is easy; you were dissapointed by people, that made you sad but you had to smile for all the pageviews and the support. That feeling could not be noticed if you weren't that good with expresions, light source, color, etc.
What ever, this drawing is really old and maybe you won't even notice my comment. I just wanted to write about this (Kind of a disturbing idea in my mind... I'm like... taking free therapy, lol)

I just noticed the tears on the hand. The outline of the frown, the tired eyes.

It seems some aren't getting the message of this. I may be getting it wrong too but here is my opinion.
The piece is the visual to what you said in the artist's comment section. Basically saying those who think they can create art are ruining everything for those who are actually creating art by drowning us in crap. Now what we are forced to call art is really just the crap that is everywhere. As a result, nobody truely appreciates or sees the work and talent that goes in to actual art. So, the real artists have to either just accept this, quit creating art, or just ingore the majority if they still bother to show the world there creations.

And it's true... my art teacher says that it takes 3 seconds for someone to decide whether they like something of yours or not, rather than how much effort and time you put into it...

I agree with you 100%. Though this is a late comment for this picture, I just feel the need to state my worthless opinion 8D
But now days, Alot of 'fans' don't care if art means something to you, They only want it if its drawn well, And doesn't make them think.
Alot of people don't understand your 'Draw with me' video, Yet still fan girl/boy over you because you show decent, If not 'pro' animating skills.
I admit when i first saw 'draw with me' when it was 'all the rage' between fanimators, It took me a few times to understand it. But once understood, I could really relate to it.

But uh, People tend to only care about quality. Even artists them selves have given up meaning and draw just to please others. Its sad. And its nice to see artists who still hang onto drawing what /they/ want, And not what /others/ want.

There isn't enough "deep" art like this floating around the interbutts. Not like it's trying to make some end-all statement about anything, just something that you can stare at for a long while and keep picking things out and getting feelings from all the while. Normally, I'm loathe to acknowledge manga-ish work artwise for the abysmal trends it's stuck in, but folks like you keep taking shock pads to my hopes for it.

I love the small details done on the tape to show that she is actually frowning and the tears still on her hand probably from wiping her tears away for whatever sad moment. The eyes alone tell a story. They're empty, sad, depressing, and the multiple bags under her eyes show she has either been dealing with a lot of depression, or she couldn't sleep through the night for whatever reasons. The lighting goes well with the picture as well. It really contrasts the mood of this girl, everything is so bright and cheerful around her, while she is the one dark, sad one. Marvelous work, and details are some of the most important things in art.

I like it!!! It's sad because she is really frowning, but she puts a mask of happiness. D: Well, you put a tape on her mouth with a smile drawn on...still y'know she wants you think she is happy...but she isn't. I bet detail is appreciated, but people might not mention to make long comments. Content is important too~ Both, detail and content.

I agree. One does so much and puts in so much in his/her art.
Yet all people look at is the overview.
Do they really bother to stare at the artpiece and admire all the intricate details put in?
More people should. Artists will feel more appreiciated..

Mike, I love your art. I swear I've never seen anyone else make art this good, and personally I examine every detail I can find...I absolutely LOVE to search for little hidden details in your work, it puts a story in my mind, and so far your stories are the best I've ever... imagined
