Description No, it's not an Ent^^ The guy at the bottom is just there for size measurements, hence little to no detail work or anything has gone into putting him in the picture.

So I'm not gonna lie... I'm pretty much obsessed with your artwork. I'm sorry to bother you with questions but I loveeee your style. How did you start this out? It's just so flawless ughh. Annnd how did you do the leaves? I'm so beyond jealous.. I suck at doing leaves and grassy stuff. I just love how much life is in this drawing.

No worries, I don't mind

By "start this out", do you mean this particular piece or drawaing in general?

We'll start with the piece: I drew a few curved lines for the positioning of the character's body and started adding features to it, adding guide lines where needed for the little branches and stuff. The leaves are just tiny scribblings and to make room for them I sometimes draw a "balloon outline" where the largest parts of them are supposed to go. By doing that I know to not add anything else but the leaves at those points. And then I just, well... draw

As for how I started out draing in the first place: I was a huge Super Hero comic book fan when I was a kid^^ Spider Man, Superman, Batman, Hulk, FF, X-Men and whole bunch of other comic books and I wanted to draw my favorite characters and started copying certain panels, mimicking the style and stuff and as a result picked a lot of nifty little tricks up along the way. I've never attended any art schools or similar. I've alway had a mindset towards learning how to draw what I like and that was my drive instead of tutors telling me what they think is good or not or what style I should adapt. Schools might work for some but I tend to feel trapped and suffocated when some one tells me to draw in a style that is not my own and since my teachers where comic books I had all the freedom in the world to develop according to my own taste. So if anyone asks me about how to learn this stuff I always recommend studying other artists and try to find out how they did things by trying to do them themselves.

Thankkk you so much! I was stoked when I read this ha. This helps a ton. I've only taken one college art class and from it I have to agree with you on the feeling suffocated thing and high school art classes just seem like a joke. You have inspired me to draw more so thank you for that too. I'm absoluely in love with your Wood God drawing.

And you are very welcome(:

I can't complain, on vacation at the moment and very early last Sunday morning, in Tunisia, I put my bare foot down in the unbelievably soft, velvet sands of Sahara. I can't remember when last I felt such peace. We sat on one of the bigger dunes and watched the sun go up over the horizon and it felt like the whole world held it's breath. It was a majestic moment which I'll never ever forget. The sheer beauty of the desert is almost unimaginable, one has to have been there to fully grasp the magnitude of it all. So, I guess I'll have to go there again later in my life. At least once. So, I'm ok

Sounds beautiful!! I always pictured or imagined the worst and doom from the desert, probably instilled from cartoons and movies showing how being stuck there can cause heatstroke, despair and possible death!! LOL!! Nice to hear the opposite!! LOL!!

Probably not my favorite work of yours, but your considerable skill, and sense of balance is always brilliant and inspiring to look at. Good work Mig.

Hi itmon, thanks . You know, I've started using a much thicker lead when I'm sketching things up. The reason for this is that I sometimes feel like I should work on the shape first and the details later, saves time but I always seem to end up sharpening the lead instead^^

Very nice piece. I like the composition and how you're moving the eye through the image. Adding the guy for scale was a perfect idea. Nice work.

Cheers,

Rand
