Awesome, but you have the wrong rune on her helmet. You have the symbol for the Dire Avengers not the Howling Banshees.

do one where a guardsman is an inch tall trying to escape a howling banshee that saw him that would be cool. well the guardsman would be like this "oh crap she saw me" *starts running* BOOM! SQUISH!

sorry to hear your pencil case. i know how much i spaz out if i lose a single peice of art so to lose 4 year's worth must have been quite the blow. i'm going to second the opinions of many of the commenters of this peice and say that it would be pretty awsome if you could land a job with GW as an artist since it's clearly something your passionate about but their twerms do indeede sound screwy.
aaaaaaaaanyways, onto the art. it's insteresting to see how your style translates from paper to pixel. the lines really help to build up form, especially on the more subtle and less angular areas of her, such as the mask. alos, i find it assentuates the flow of the mane of the face mask. over all, it's a sucessful peice and there's something self asured and triumphant about the pose that leves me really wanting to listen to 'ride of the valkries'.

Iwonder if I still have DoW around somewhere. That game's the proverbial "shit".

Wow, I've never really thought about it before... but your detailed style actual reminds me of the 40k artwork you get in the rulebooks and magazines, have you ever thought about applying for an artists position at GW?

lol, a lot of people have ... said i should go for it. But i got advised against it from someone who actually used to work for them, saying they have some very odd rules when it comes to making artwork. Something like, if you make a piece of artwork for them, they make you sign a contract to something of the effect where anything that you do in the future, if they decide it looks like one of their things, they own it. or something. Not sure ... i also hear they dont pay all that well and they can be real bastards to work for.
This all doesnt mean to say that i wouldnt like to work for them sometime ... just not right now! I think the guy i spoke to effectivley said that if you work for them, on site, its fine, but with freelance stuff they get pretty wierd about it ...
And thanks for the compliment! I love their production values of their artwork. Heck, i dont play the board game (way too time consuming and expensive) but the constant thing ive always loved is the universe and the artwork.
it would be VERY cool to work for them one day. I mean, i remember a board game called Space Crusade, which i got when i was about 8 ... and that really triggered a lot of things and interests that ive developed today. So who knows! I always enjoy doing 40k art, cos there are so many designs, and theyre so varied and creative. I also prefer doing pics on already established designs (as i prefer doing takes on a costume, etc, or doing something in my own style to actually designing a costume/etc from scratch)
Thunks!

true about their contract, it's VERY restrictive, still... Mark Gibbons and Paul Bonner both went on to successful careers in the Games Industry, so it must be possible to get out of it!
That said, I wouldn't mind working for them, pretty much everything I do is their stuff anyway!
Great banshee, and you only had DoW as reference??

YES! Eldar fanart, I love you. I just got my eldar battlepack for christmas and I've been painting my army up all nice. Havent gotten any banshees yet but I will.
Anyway, I like this. You must hear it a lot but you are damned good at shading with b&w.
Anyway, although the designs on the weapons n stuff are a bit shaky (but I guess thats because you have DoW and not the tabletop version? I have no idea) but if you were just messing around with the functions in painter, then that doesn't matter at all, does it?
Btw it REALLY sucks that you lost your entire pencil case. I know I get really upset when I lose just ones eraser or pencil. I hope it turns up soon!
And thank you for the eldar art ^^

have you ever thought about submitting some complete 40K work to the Warhammer people? You would be fantastic!
This is so brilliantly executed! The detail achieved without much effort is awesome! And to top it all off, the tonal values work like no other!
Congrats. Please do more in the near future!
