Description [::: Swooping Hawk Exarch, Warhammer 40K [FANART] :::]

I think it looks better in fullview, btw. Otherwise you lose some of the detail

Uhm ... Swooping Hawk, an aspect warrior from the Eldar army. I've always liked the aspect warriors, thought they were pretty cool. I've always likee dthe dynamics of the swooping hawks in particular, so i thought i would stretch myself to do a full pic. Thinking about it, theyre probably my least favourite aspect (haha) (ps, warp spiders rulz!) but ... i felt like doing it for some reason. And, to answer all the questions i had on my previous WH40K stuff - i've been into GW stuff since i was about 8, i've always loved the ideas, atmoshpere and universe, but i've never had the time, money or space to do it properly. I have a couple of codexes and the rulebook and all the modelling gear ... but not much else. It's a bit of a strange relationship i have with it. I never know whether to say i do it or i dont, simply because ... its neither XD anyway

I don't really know how long it took. Between 5 and 10 hours, thats about as accurate as i can get. Probably didn't take as long as it felt - and a lot of it was pure labour, like shading the gun in *yawn*. The lineart and structure took about half an hour, and the rest was just me simply scribbling. For ages.

The bg and some of the character work was done digitally, but most of it is plain old BIC Biro. I'll submit the original biro sketch later.

I'm pleased with it, mainly not so much with the actual picture, but because i was determined and patient enough to actually sit and do it.

Thanks all meh watchers/people for all the support recently, without it i doubt i would have done this piccy !

All comments welcome and appreciated. Thanks!

once again, that tonal work it truly beautiful, the shear scale of shades you managed to produce is mind blowing. you've really managed to capture the feeling of really fast movement.

Wow, Oni, you must have a very clean arse by now! j/k

I didn't expect to see this when I opened the link XD

It doesn't look quite like he's swooping, it looks more like he's standing in rays of light. To enhance the swoop effect I guess you could make the wind flow stretch out parts of his body a bit more, if you know what I mean, having a hard time to explain >.< It's a very cool effect nonetheless.
The armor looks kinda soft? His wings looks like stained glass Good job with the design.
Where does that cable from the gun lead to?

i don't know, there's something that just scream Tau about the body armour but that blur effect just adds so much movement to this.

I admire your high technical skills... I keep looking your pictures over and over.. They are all so smooth and your anatomy work is always perfect. This picture is perfect too, and smooth. It's nice to look at it, because it looks very soft to my eyes, and I've always liked soft pictures. The details are remarkable, especially on hands and on the gun. Shading looks just marvelous... Gorgeous job.
And now I must admit that I hate commenting. As you probably see, I'm not very good in English and I feel so stupid when I leave a comment, 'cause I'm sure I've said something veeeery "smart". *sigh* Maybe I learn in thousand years.

you know, i'm amazed at how many of the people who leave decent comments say theyre not good at english! You're great, a lot better than most people i know who actually have english as their native language!

You're actually one of the few people i make a specific effort to read the comments of. I mean, i used to read them all, when i was subscriber, but if youre not a subscriber, you have to click them. Which is very slow on 56k.

But, you should know youre one of my favourite watchers you always leave the best comments
