“Day 49 of Creature Feature is upon us, we’ve made a lot of progress. Why not take a breather and discuss the humble Chocodrillo?”

“Ever wondered where chocolate comes from? Well they come from cacao plants. However another, more interesting, method is there, the harvesting of the beans grown by the mythical Chocodrillo. Chocodrillos are plant based crocodiles, known to grow rich and delicious cacao fruit from their back. These Chocodrillos share their physical structures with typical crocodiles otherwise, with a notable aversion towards fire and an increased liking for sugar. Moreover, Chocodrillos have been used as livestock in a sense, where they are periodically sheared for their fruit.”

“The common variant of the Chocodrillo, Cocos are often found in marshes, swamps, and rivers. Cocos have an average lifespan of 70 years, and can grow to be 17 feet or 5.18 meters in length. Physically, Cocos are known for their...plump bodies, certainly unique when compared to other crocodiles. They have a remarkably high body fat percentage. Additionally, the Coco Chocodrillo has an affinity towards Naturia Magic. However, their most recognizable feature is their wood-like spine in which both branches and fruit of the cacao tree. This plant matter is magical in nature, with an abnormal increase in richness and endorphin production when formatted into common chocolate one would consume. This aspect makes them an intrigue for candy manufacturers, luckily in order for the best chocolate to be produced the Coco Chocodrillo has to not only be alive and healthy, but happy as well. Which helps prevent artificial and inhumane treatment of these creatures. Even though they do not form social groups, many Cocos congregate together in the wild, where they bask in the sunlight together. Interestingly, Cocos are remarkably cheerful.”

“The rarer variant of Chocodrillos, White Chocodrillo are only found in rivers, and freshwater rivers to be specific. These Chocodrillo have an average lifespan of 50 years and an average length of 13 feet or 3.96 meters. Physically, White Chocodrillo are the most similar to typical crocodiles, with much less body fat than their more common variant. The White Chocodrillo share many additionally traits with its Coco variant, such as its wooden spine and affinity towards Naturia Magic. However, the cacao fruit produced by this variant are unique as they are almost entirely composed of cacao fat. Which only allows cocoa butter and white chocolate to be made, where the White Chocodrillo gets its name from. Additionally, this white chocolate is much softer and sweeter in taste and texture, combined with their rarity and inherent difficulty to produce, this chocolate is often made for the wealthy. Socially, the White Chocodrillo is much more solitary, but partakes in the similar basking acts as their Coco variant. Individual White Chocodrillo are much more relaxed than typical crocodiles. Interestingly, these Chocodrillos have an increased bond with Sweetened Plovers.”

“Chocodrillos are an interesting creature, such a intense beast, growing a sweet treat on its back. However they are much kinder and safer than their non magical counterparts. Chocodrillos were only recently documented and few have created enclosures to safely cultivate the cacao fruit. Interestingly, these relatively unique animals have a mutual bond with a creature sharing in its sweet properties, the Sweetened Plover.”
