This is a piece I did from ‘The Hunger Games’ by Suzanne Collins.
That’s Katniss on the left singing the song. In the middle are the lyrics to the song she sings in ‘Mockingjay’ called ‘The Hanging Tree’ and on the right is the hung couple in the song.
I’m really proud of this piece because I painted it in Photoshop from scratch… apart from the paper.
There is also one of these for ‘Rue’s Lullaby’ on its way.

oh! its my fav. when i read the book, i made my own tune. so when i heard this, its a hard transaction. i still sing my own version some times. i have woods in my backyard and there is this tree that looks like a hanging tree. i printed the lyrics out in a fancy font, put it in a plastic protector, and nailed it to the tree. i want to "meet my friends at midnight at the hanging tree" i would love too see him there. but he lives about 15-20 minutes away.

Ha ha, oh, that's SO cool! Ive seen a few trees like that around my town. But I had fun drawing this one. I'm SO proud of the tree and the lovers, but I'm thinking of redoing Katniss.

I did it in a really strange way. It was one of my first attempts of painting and I've learnt better techniques now.

Whoa, is this a collage or is it digitally painted? Katniss looks fantastic. (Even though I imagined her with darker skin, but that's just a minor detail)

I used photoshop. i got the eyedropper tool and selected coulour to do a dot. once she was just a blur of dots I blended it together and drew in detail. but my favorite thing is the hung girl. which I did the tree and most of the hung figurres from scrach.

I like the showy quality of the woman, and I love the detail of them holding hands in death. Great job on a very dark piece. This book was amazing, it was the first piece of dystopian literature I didn't want to throw out of the window.
