originally I wanted to make a manip with Gabrielle just standing in the lake, but then I realized ... eh... it was kinda boring. And also I wanted to base it on something.

The wall is based on fear, insecurities and the pain that we sometimes feel from hiding who we are.
How hard it is hiding your inner demons, or your fears, your secrets, your feelings, from the people that you love the most.
And how it becomes more and more difficult the closer those people get to you.

Gabrielle was afraid to tell Xena many things, because she was afraid Xena could not accept the truth, that she would feel betrayed. As if, by not telling the truth, Gabrielle had lied to her.
She was afraid of losing the one person she loved.

And that's one of the things that keeps us from letting go of our demons and insecurities and keeps us from being being truly honest with the people we love.
We're simply afraid of other people's reaction. We overthink. And so we continue to hide ourselves, and thus we find ourselves in an evil circle of fear and pain. The longer we hide, the more hurtful it gets. But still you're afraid. By the end you're just grasping for air.

Wooooow look at me, being all deep! But I feel like it's true. I've felt like this several times and it is* scary and painful. I just had the sudden urge to get my thoughts out and I did it in one of the only ways I could. By making a wall based on my thoughts... Using Xena images! *win!*
(I actually also did a photo project on the thoughts of insecurities, although not completely based on these thoughts.. only mildy based on some of them xD)
