Description Thalassia's (or Thal for short) finalized design.

Name: Thalassia Violetta

Sex: Female

Species: Echinomeran

Age: 26

Alignment: Good

Affiliation(s): Kindlepit Police Force

Skills: Hand-to-Hand combat, Venomous extending arm spikes, weapon proficiency of all sorts, exceptional knowledge of construction/repair, adept swimmer, able to breath underwater

An officer of the Kindlepit Police Force, Thalassia is an Echinomeran; a race of semi-aquatic Sea Urchin-like humanoids. Despite this, Thalassia (or Thal for short) doesn't enjoy the water quite as much as other members of her race for whatever reason (though she DOES enjoy seafood as much as any other Echinomeran). Thal has attended school for Law enforcement for several years and takes her job seriously. Though she was born after the war for Desolearth, Thal took it upon herself to do what she can to help for the future; which is how she ended up doing what she does now. She is slightly stuck up in this regard; and thinks what Rabies and Needles does for a living is a waste of time.

Thal has a strong sense of justice, and it's for this reason that she usually accompanies Needles and Rabies on their quests; to do whatever it takes to bring the hammer down on the criminals that lurk throughout. Thal has always been somewhat sheltered through her childhood; spending a lot of time reading books and playing games without the company of friends.  Although her time with Needles and Rabies still comes as a job to her, she has started to somewhat enjoy their company and adventures, and has started to accept them as her friends. She usually gets along better with Needles due to his lax nature and optimism, but dislikes how lazy he can be. Thal will often clash heads with the irritable Rabies and it's usually up to Needles to break the two up if things start getting heated.

Thalassia has the ability to extend the spines on her arms; which can be used as makeshift blades, and has gone through extensive combat training. As an Echinomeran, she also has the ability to breath underwater.

Thal belongs to me and the Needles series, please do not use without my permission.

I’m really liking the simpler, cartoony look these characters share! It’s different from your other designs while still very clearly being "you“
Looking forward to seeing more and where this all leads

Thanks!  That was always a big problem with me.  My more realism-based Paleoart/Spec Art/Kaiju art would clash with my ability to draw cartoons, which is something I've wanted to get into doing alongside my usual fare.  It's why I was never truly satisfied with anything related to Needles; my vision never came across exactly as I would have wanted it to.  As somebody who loves cartoons, I was always very interested in the process of making them and developing characters and story.  Seeing all the different styles as well.

I plan to have decent portions of comedy, but with plenty of suspenseful and dramatic moments in Needles, as well as a deeper story to all of it, and plenty of subtext!  I also plan to talk more about the characters themselves in this "reintroduction" I've done, but things are still shaping up.

Yeah, i know what you mean.. it can be difficult to simplify your style when you’re more used to something more realistic. A technique that works well for something like that is just drawing the design in your usual style and then taking away unnecessary details and simplifying the shapes until you’ve only got the bare minimum. But I think you really managed to pull off that cartoony vibe quite well either way!

Oh my, you’ve got quite big plans for it then, eh? I’m looking forward to seeing and reading more and wish you the best of luck with it!
