Description
King of all vanir and god of the sea.Aegir is also god of the sea, from what I can gather the difference is Aegirs the wild deep ocean while Njord is more harbours and seashore. ^^
My version looks a lot more Aesir than Vanir, he was very pleased to move to Asgard where he could relax and not in anyway be a king, cos he never wanted to rule anything. He just loves relaxing by the sea and is very chilled. His connection to the sea is partly due to a sea Dis in his ancestry.

Who was Frey and Freya's mother? Was it Skadi or...?

Oh no not skaΓ°i, they were born before Njord moved to asgard in most accounts so long before he married SkaΓ°i.Β Their mother is NjorΓ°'s sister and first wife (thats normal for Vanir apparently) It's uncertain what her name was as she is always referred to as Njord's sister but is possible it's NjΓΆrΓΊn or Nerthus.

Well there is one myth that says it's skadi but theres also one myth thats says Frey is Odin's son not njord, theres always a few texts with mistakes like that but ever other text is pretty clear it was the sister/wife and since they were born before Njord moved to asgard and Skadi and Njord meet ion Asgard it's pretty clear they can't be Skadi's, they're probably older than Skadi even. XD Plus they are filly Vanir, no jotun in them and Skadi is jotun. Plus in most myths it's pretty clear Njord and skadi have no actual relationship they are only married for convenience.

A lot of people put Skadi and Ullr together and I can totally see it with the whole both having links toΒ winter and the hunting/ archery thingy going together, but it is not in the texts at all XD

A thing happened when he was a kid which you can read here: Thor meets Sif.
Because of this he's had nightmares of a wolf hunting him all his life. Sif lied and said the wolf wasn't real (thinking he'd be more scared if he knew it was based on real events) but instead this made ullr think he was insane which made him even worse and over time his phobia of wolves turns into a deep hatred and he strats killing them. Odin is not ok with this (thinking he'll get Freki or Geri) so after several threats of banaishment fail to stop him he locks him in a room with a wolf (with him tied up) so he has to face his fear. The wolf like all Asgards wolfis friendly towards people (cos Freki and geri worked out a deal with them) So does nothing to hurt him. This helps a bit and though he still has the nightmares Ullr no longer feels compelled to kill them just to feel safe.
(Yes I have this much detail about every norse god, Ullr is one of the less developed ones XD)
