Description

A horrified squeal pierced the momentary silence, and Aikane could do nothing but watch helplessly as the ground opened up underneath Dusana, pulling her into the depths below. The herd scattered away from the rapidly growing hole. They scrambled to a safe distance before turning back to stare at the dark water.

There was no sign of Dusana.

Lluka could do nothing but watch as his mother disappeared. An eerie silence wrapped him in a blanket as chaos broke around him. Lillith and Muse shoved past him to leap into the black, churning waters that had swallowed his mother whole only a few moments before. He heard Andromache nicker and felt the velvet touch of her muzzle on his shoulder. He flinched away from her, staring at her hopelessly. They had caused this.

His gaze travelled past her to her mother. Lilian had turned on the rest of the mares, spitting venom and hatred in every word she spoke. The newer mares eyes were wide in shock. A few even stepped back, uncertain of how to proceed. That was until Pandia stepped up. The dark mare's eyes held a fire behind them he had never seen before. She approached the splash mare, shoving her back into the snow. In an instant, the balance of things had completely shifted. The uncertain glances were replaced with anger and even Lilian, in her enraged state, seemed to recognize this. She staggered away from them before turning and fleeing, the mares in hot pursuit.

He turned as a lumbering figure approached him. He stared wide eyed at the hulking figure of Renegade, who held an unreadable expression. The stallion eyed him for a moment before snorting.

"Leave."

It was a command so simple, Lluka was certain he hadn't heard him correctly.

"You can't just kick him out!" Andromache cried, stomping her foot into the melting snow. "He didn't do anything wrong!" The look that Ren gave the young mare caused her outburst to shrink and wither away.

"I don't have time to deal with petty drama," Ren spoke flatly, as if his conclusion was natural and obvious. "Leave. I won't tell you again." Lluka reeled backwards as if he had been physically struck. He had known the day was coming, but he had wanted to ask Renegade himself to avoid this. What would his mother think?

His gaze drifted past the lead stallion to Muse and Lillith, who had dragged her body from out of the depths of the lake. He could hardly see her flank rise and fall from this distance... was she even breathing?

All at once, he was struck by a wall of muscle. His legs splayed out in all different directions as he struggled to keep his balance in the snow. Hot pain bloomed across his back and he squealed, kicking out weakly before he charged away from his attacker. He heard the heavy thud of Renegade holding pursuit for a few strides before trailing off. He galloped across the icy field, trying to ignore the pain that lanced through his sides. He only slowed when he was certain he was safe from Renegade's wrath. He turned back, staring solemnly at his herd.

It wasn't his first time being cast out from a herd. He just hoped his mother would be alright.

I wanted to do a lot more in depth story for this but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to write it. I hope it turned out okay???
