Description
He had been gone for only a few hours and had returned to an empty clearing. The snow that came down in flurries had hidden the tracks of his companion. It was an unfortunate turn of events, Krusiel thought bitterly. He shouldn't have expected anything else. The stallion had barely allowed him to stay, not that it would have deterred him much.
He had got the first inkling of it when he had seen the stallion thundering down the hill towards the human who had been trying to rip his freedom from his grasp. The first feeling, a gut instinct really, that this was not what it seemed. This stallion had more to him.
When he had followed him, he had only half heartedly been trying to conceal himself. Renegade knew he was there the entire time. When the black stallion had turned on him, Krusiel had seen the scars across his chest. A story to be told. This stallion had more to him.
He had recognized the stature right away as Khan's son, but Renegade had been completely under the radar. It wasn't his birth name. He had to know why he wasn't using his given name. He had heard rumors, but he wasn't sure if they were true.
So when he had returned to an empty clearing, instead of being deterred, he was further invigorated. Renegade had sealed his fate and Krusiel followed after him, head low as he trotted across the snowy drifts. It had not been particularly difficult to find him, but he hadn't expected a second. A young mare, hardly more than a filly and nearly half Renegade's size, was attached to the draft's side. She was childlike, innocent. She nipped at him, trying to get the stallion to play. Renegade didn't flinch, his ears slicked back to his neck.
The paint stayed at a distance, watching as they moved off. The filly was in the lead. Krusiel shook his head, scowling after them. He needed the truth behind this stallion- no matter the cost.
