Description The prehistoric super-predator chimera, Apex

AKA: Drew, Ty
Height: 119 meters (fully reared) / 97 meters (all fours)
Length: 192 meters
Mass: 100,000 tons
Rank: 4

Allegiance: Cryptic Eyes
Allies: Anorgon, Banshee, the Lepus Brothers

Description:
Apex is a savage, simple, and deadly beast. He is modeled after two extinct animals- the Andrewsarchus and the thylacine. Some of his biological blueprints are actually based on the DNA of these lost creatures, retrieved from fossils and preserved specimens respectively. However, this DNA was damaged and filled with gaps. The empty spots in the genetic codes were filled in by DNA from bears, wolves, and other mammalian predator. This jumbled genetic code makes him somewhat unstable, not favoring the behavior of any of his 'fathers' and instead inventing new actions with no real order or logic. His general fighting tactic is plain and straight forward- overpower and kill. Physically, he's probably the strongest of all kaiju, except perhaps Lykothop or Skollarg under a full moon. Personality-wise, he's undoubtedly one of the most brutal, relentless monsters out there. Even Anorgon can't compete with Apex's sheer tenacity, a trait that the Cryptic Eyes seem to value in their monsters. However, this is somewhat of a double-edged blade. When he gets too agitated or injured, his unseen masters must active an internal device that releases a powerful sedative to dull his senses and motion. Only then will he fully obey the orders he receives from his masters electronically, through an implant in his brain.

At the same time, Apex is a rather childish beast at heart. Like Anorgon is a damaged creature with the psychological need for a role model, a monster almost acting as a parent or sibling figure to him, Apex is a spoiled child at the core of his primitive mind. His brain is not that of a killer, but a brat. Most of his actions can be equated to violent tantrums or spiteful responses, his destructive sprees and assaults nothing more than the defiance of a bigheaded child. This is not a true redeeming feature though, because unlike his impressionable partner, who simply does as he's seen and told, Apex is aware of the boundaries of right and wrong. He realizes that he is 'misbehaving' when he kills and destroys, he simply- much like an angry child- does not care.

Apex is occasionally referred to be the media as Ty or Drew, names jokingly given to him by Alex Shepheard as puns on the extinct species he's based on. Surprisingly, the creature has somehow learned to respond to these title, although often in an annoyed or irritated fashion.

Powers:
-Strength: Apex is almost supernaturally strong, his muscle mass taking up the vast majority of his weight; he could practically juggle several monsters of his size without a tremendous effort
-Hooves: in place of claws or fingers, Apex have thick, tough hooves; not at all dexterous, but can deliver brutal blows and jarring punches, acting like natural brass knuckles or iron plates
-Spike: on each wrist, Apex has a blunt, Iguanaodon-like thumb; this large spur can be used to punch holes in foes, breaking the integrity of armor on well protected foes and allowed Apex's formidable strength to come into play without hindrance
-Jaws: Apex's jaws are long, dangerous, and incredibly powerful; few things can survive more than a few bites from his huge, fanged maw, which comes down like two steel lengths lined by railroad spikes
-Muscle Mass: Apex's bulging muscles are so developed, they act as a sort of organic armor, adsorbing blows with their incredible density and dulling the effects of electricity and heat; this also means that the brute can hit as if he were a hard mass, not a creature of flesh and blood; his firm flesh has a breaking point much higher than even strong metal alloys

Weaknesses:
-Due to his bulging physique, Apex's is actually hindered some by his muscle mass; his reaction time can be slow compared to other monsters and his movements are somewhat restrained, particularly the rotation of his joints; he very much was tunnel vision, even in a somewhat physical fashion
-When enraged enough, Apex will loose all though or reason, potentially endangering or injuring himself
-Apex's long, nerveless tail flops about behind him useless, having no real purpose but minimum support in balancing himself; he often even trips over its knotty length

Bio:
After several months of dormancy, the Cryptic Eyes returned with a bang. They unleashed both Anorgon and a new monster- Apex- in Tokyo. The two simple-minded beast went on a rampage, immune to military fire. In response, the G.A.K.F. sent Reaper, Neeaa and Ka'uth sent Knothor, and Spars arrived on his own instincts.

Spars and Reaper took own Apex, matching their formidable muscle against the chimera's. But Apex overpowered both, tossing them aside easily. Quickly realizing they couldn't beat the muscled mammal with brute force, the pair adopted a hit-and-run strategy, working together and relying on their energy attacks. But after many missed strikes and surprise blow, Apex lost it. Going berserk, the brutish giant took down Reaper, Knothor, and even his own partner. It was only when Spars unleashed his heat burst did the enraged mammal go down, all the damage he had taken finally taking its toll.

After the battle, an attempt was made to take Aepx into captivity, but both he and Anorgon broke free and escaped.

When Banshee was added to the Cryptic Eyes kaiju, she used her cunning and prowess to scare Apex and Anorgon into line. Although the two could easily overpower her together, they wouldn't dare try.

When Anorgon and Apex appeared in Los Angeles, Jake, Plume, and Reaper were deployed to fight them off. The G.A.K.F. monster quickly took an edge, outnumbering the Cryptic Eyes Beasts. But then Banshee arrived. Attacking Jake viciously, her brother, the lame giant turned the tides. Struggling, the G.A.K.F. kaiju were in serious trouble. Luckily for them, the cavalry arrived just in time. Rhact and Sid stormed the battle, backing the G.A.K.F. monsters. Once again outnumbered, Banshee, Anorgon, and Apex were forced to retreat.

When Knight ordered his monsters to help defend the Giant's Gates, Apex was sent to Giant's Gate One. There, the brutal predator added his strength to the powerful Sub-Titan and Colterus's, creating an insanely muscular trio of destruction against the frosty legion. After the frozen warriors fell dormant when Ullraldi was killed, Apex tried to tussle with his temporary allies, but was quickly drugged and order back home.

When the Nentuson made their final move and unleashed Psykos onto South America, Knight sent his original team to face the maniac after it slaughtered Boulder. As Banshee was pulled into a battle with Whiplash, Anorgon and Apex slammed into Psykos as one, but the deceptively strong killer threw them back. laughing insanely, the maniac leapt atop them, blades slashing. Soon, Anorgon and Apex were shredded, hide left in bleeding strips. Anorgon tried to fight back, lashing out with his great claws and particle beam, but he was soon struck down by a savage blow from Psykos's tail. Apex, enraged as his partner fell, went berserk and tackled the killer in a bear hug. Squeezing with all his might, the mammalian chimera crushed the serial killer, even as he tears at him with his many bloods. As Apex's pelt ran red with blood, Psykos is crushed to death, the murderer going limp as his chest cavity collapses. Dropping the killed killer, Apex threw his head back with a great howl of victory.

The chimera then fell flat on its face, just as dead as his victim.

Background Information: Funnily enough, Apex's new look has taken a cue from that new Where the Wild Things Are movie, with the puppets/suits. That's where that long, knobby tail comes from. Not sure why, just loved the idea of it flinging about behind him as he ran, as if manipulated by strings.

Seeing the hoofed claws reminded me that andrewsarcus was related to modern day goats. So pretty nice reference you did there.

Ah, the new and improved Apex. Awesome revamp, his thylacine aspects are much more prevalent now in his face and stripe patterning.

My, what a brute. Apex is an "apex predator" indeed. The addition of hooves is also a nice touch, though personally I think they could be just as effective of weapons as claws, just used in a slightly different fashion.

The notion of this monster juggling fellow kaiju is both hilarious and frightening. LOL
