Description:
Spars is a one of the Five Children of Heaven and Earth, a group of five guardians that wield the elements and protect the planet. After one of the Children- Ullraldi of ice- fell to darkness, a battle to stop him caused all five to fall into hibernation. Now they are awake, and ready to defend the planet once again. Spars was the first to wake. He controls the Earth's heat, although his sheer muscle is his first choice for offense. Spars is a straightforward and brutal fighter, beating down foes and rarely showing mercy. But he is nowhere near wicked. He seldom kills his foes, instead satisfied with simple victory. He fights to defend the planet, but has a strong indifference to Man. His loyalty is to the planet and his siblings, not Humanity. He is not a selfless guardian though. Spars holds quite bit of admiration for himself, perhaps too much. He is a creature of the earth, burrowing and dwelling underground. Although they ultimately have the same goal, Spars holds a slight disdain for the G.A.K.F. monsters, especially Jake, who he seems to have a rivalry with. He also dislikes humans in general somewhat. That may explain why he isn't fond of their kaiju. He see Mankind as below him, sees us as distasteful. He assumes our rule of the world will be brief in the long run and a superior race will take the reins of dominance eventually. Spars has a good heart, but it's touched by hubris. His siblings tolerate it, although they warn against it. His twin, Araad, in particular finds Spar's confidence a potentially dangerous flaw.

It was recently learned that he can speak an ancient language, although he prefers to stay silent. He is a dead fit for the description of 'strong, but silent'.

Powers:
-Brawler: Spars is a excellent melee fighter, using his jaws, claws, spikes, horns, and tail to savage the enemy; he holds nothing back in a fight, using his entire body weight to attack foes in an extremely overwhelming style of combat; his solid skull, sharp horns, and spurred tail are particularly potent in combat
-Thermal Breath: Spars can loose a searing beam of heat from his jaws; strong enough to topple foes and burn flesh to a crisp; usually nearly colorless- only visible because its high temperatures warp the air- save for a few sparks of crimson in its center; these flares of color increase with the beam's power
-Crater Stomp: By slamming a heavy foot into the ground, Spars can summon a geyser of high pressure steam to create a large crater or furrow, unbalancing foes and throwing debris of all sizes; one of his favored move it to deliver this attack into an enemy's gut, engulfing their head in the superheated vapor
-Heat Waves: Spars can influence heat; this allows him to throw powerful and creative blast of superheated air at foes; often coats his fists in gloves of searing heat, giving blows an extra edge; also likes to hammer foes with orbs of condensed air so hot they're like miniature suns
-Heat Burst: In times of dire trouble, Spars will loose his ultimate attack; his entire body actually glowing ruby red with heat, he can release a burning surge of air in all directions, like an explosion; level entire landscapes and drains most of his strength
-Heat Immunity: Spars is totally immune to high temperatures, the hottest of fires going unnoticed by him; at the same time, he can use his influence over heat to fight off low temperatures, although there actually has to be heat in the air in the first place
-Armored Hide: as well as being strong and flexible, Spars's tough hide is protected by spines and plates that can take brutal punishment with no problem
-Burrowing: Although not as skilled as the Sub-Titan, Spars is a powerful burrower on his own right; he likes to meet foes face to face, so he rarely using this skill in battle

Weakness:
-Spars can be overconfident of himself in battle, often underestimating his foes; he is also easily insulted, a very prideful beast

Bio:
Spars appeared from nowhere, already locked in a fierce battle withe the escaped Manic in the middle of Egypt. The mammal was undoubtedly on the loosing side of the battle too. Thinking Spars was a Cryptic Eyes kaiju gone rogue, the G.A.K.F. deployed Jake to take charge of the battle. When the cyborg arrived, the duel stopped dead. Sensing a truly worthy opponent, Spars attacked Jake with everything he had. Manic used the distraction to sneak away. The battle between the saurian and the lizard lasted for hours, their distinctive battle tactics canceling the other's out. Eventually, both decided to withdraw, too worn out to continue. But something passed between the two that day. Jake and Spars now consider each other rivals.

When not patrolling the dry regions of the world, Spars dwells in a remote African mountain den.

When Jake was at the mercy of Anorgon, Spars appeared to help. Bursting from the ground in the nick of time, the ancient brawler caught Anorgon's lethal tongue in midair. Rising back to his feet, Jake helped his rival to drive the monstrosity away. Knowing they monster was beat, the Cryptic Eyes order Anorgon to retreat to the sea.

After several months of dormancy, the Cryptic Eyes returned with a bang. They unleashed both Anorgon and a new monster- Apex- in Tokyo. The two simple-minded beast went on a rampage, immune to military fire. In response, the G.A.K.F. sent Reaper, Neeaa and Ka'uth sent Knothor, and Spars arrived on his own instincts.

Spars and Reaper took own Apex, matching their formidable muscle against the chimera's. But Apex overpowered both, tossing them aside easily. Quickly realizing they couldn't beat the muscled mammal with brute force, the pair adopted a hit-and-run strategy, working together and relying on their energy attacks. But after many missed strikes and surprise blow, Apex lost it. Going berserk, the brutish giant took down Reaper, Knothor, and even his own partner. It was only when Spars unleashed his thermo-burst did the enraged mammal go down, all the damage he had taken finally taking its toll.

Spars was temporarily driven from his mountain home by Sotz, but was later able to return. Earth's warrior also manged to fended away all G.A.K.F. attempts to capture him for Project Tartarus, although he avoided actually killing anyone.

When his twin, Araad, awoke from her centuries-long slumber too, the two reunited. Ketos revealed that the two are part of the Five Children of Earth and Heaven, elemental guardians of the planet. When Ullraldi awoke in the arctic, his Spars and Araad rushed to see him, perhaps hoping his centuries-long sleep had solved his crazed mental state. It hadn't. Attacking his own flesh and blood with intent to kill, Ullraldi summoned his ice warriors. Spars and Araad soon found them selves fighting for their lives. His powers still awakening, Ullraldi began to slowly freeze over the Arctic Sea to increase his domain.

Sensing his sibling in trouble, the oldest of the Five Children of Earth and Heaven, Aeolshu Bo, awoke.

Distancing half the globe in a flash, Aeolshu joined his siblings. Even with full fury of the wind descending upon the arctic, the battle against Ullraldi and his frozen army was a loosing one. But then the ice below the Frozen Demon shifted. A gush of boiling water broke through the thick sheet of ice and knocked Ullraldi off his feet. Rising from the sea like an avenging demon, the last of the Five joined the battle-

Ketos.

The sea dragon is not actually a sibling of the Spars, Araad, Aeolshu, and Ullraldi though. In an age long ago, he took on and killed the wielder of water, gaining his power and duty. Now, with the might of heat, water, earth, and air all fighting against him, Ullraldi surrendered, allowing the others to leave his domain and willing his ice to withdraw from the sea. Araad thanked Ketos for finally recognizing his role as of of the Five, but the dragon sneered and claimed his only came to protect the oceans he ruled.

With the Five now all awake, Spars travels to earth's largest, driest areas, creating a system of intricate burrows.

When Anpu appeared, Jake was one of the monster who challenged him. He fought valiantly, lasting all the way to the end, when the Earth's defender managed to defeat the sand giant. His heat helped melt the titan down into a molten pool.

When Boulder appeared, he took over Giant's Gate Four. While Jake and Plume were on the way there, several attempts were made to drive Boulder away with conventional weapons. The great reptile simply shrugged them off, and made it a show to boot. But as he used a bombardment of tank shells to scratch a stubborn itch, the ground below began to shake. While Boulder was busy showing off, Spars attacked from below! The two ancients launched into a furious fight, the duel quickly breaking out of the Giant's Gate. It was a amazing fight, both combatants showing serious skill and raw strength. But Boulder's resistance against heat gave him a major edge. With the dark-hued titan able to ignore all of Spars's most potent attacks, he eventually took the upper hand. Not relenting, Boulder pull out on top, Spars left unconscious at his feet.

When Ullraldi, Mesucos, and Koalt launched their war, the Five rushed to confront the Fallen one. Ullraldi knew he was in over his head when they arrived at his Arctic lair. He hadn't gained all his strength back and had already been forced to surrender to his siblings once. But madness overcoming reason, the Fallen One lashed out anyway. He fought with desperate urgency, somehow convinced he could win even in his weakened state. Perhaps it was out of denial, perhaps out of sheer insanity, but the ice dragon battled like he would actually succeed. Spars, Araad, and Aeolshu were filled with pity by his futile efforts, while Ketos was only disgusted. Ullraldi's siblings tried to reason with him, giving him the chance to flee or given multiple times. Araad had to actively hold Ketos back from killing the weakened Ice Tyrant while her brothers pleaded with the mad giant. But Ullraldi was far beyond help. He kept fighting, screeching a mangled 'no' over and over. To him, it was his life or the rest the Five's. Seeing there was no other way, Aeolshu gave Araad a signal to release Ketos. Rushing forward, the sea dragon killed Ullraldi, shattering his frozen armor with a well placed slash. Araad and Aeolshu had to prevent Spars from attacking Ketos, the Earth's Warrior furious that the Demon of the Deep took his fallen brother's life. As Ketos returned to the sea and Ullraldi's ice shell crumbled away completely, what remained of the Five were left to mourn over the body of a creature that greatly resembled Spars, only smaller, softer, and with scales that shimmered with the deepest green possible.

Background Information: Originally an attempt to make a more traditional kaiju, and ended up as part of an broken group of ancient champions. Huh. The spiny, spurred tail is a tribute to Anguirus.
