D=It's been a while since I was finishing work and not just starting new things endlessly. I've had bad cases of laziness earlier on this month but I've been making up for it all this week!
Heck.. I started this in December too. I'm so bad =_=;
but.. one reason it's taken a long while is that it's just so huge! 3300x3600 px!!!
Hit "Download" for a 1600x1400 version, which is still only 40% of the original lineart size. The fullview is about 1024 px.
Ahem. Anyway, this is my favourite RahXephon character of all time.<3 There seriously needs to be more RahXephon fanart!
so... yeah, one more thing will get to come off my "to do" list once I colour it fully, etc.

hmm... the hands really aren't that much different than the references.. but I'll try adjusting them a little before the CG begins. It's good at least one person is concerned about anatomy XD.

Your lineart is perfect. The clarity and smoothness would make this easy to color.
As for the drawing itself, wow. You hit the perspective very nicely.

*shrugs* I guess things are different in America.
I was buying the DVD's as soon as they were avaliable, (from a gaming store) and stores like to get the fresh stuff in, so it was only a matter of waiting for new volumes to be dubbed. If you can get yourself to a slightly more specialised place for anime, you should order a box set instead. It'll save you money and the hassle of finding all the DVD's in the right order.
heheh, my linearts would always be like this if I had this new tablet a long time ago. It's much more precise. It'll be easy to colour for sure, but I'll still probably take weeks doing it. haha. Thanks!

I don't rely on Wal Mart...I feel sorry for the souls who do. >_>; ... but it's the only place I've ever seen a dvd of it being sold. There's no specialized places near me to order anime from, but I do plan on seeing it sometime during my life.

Your linearts are always fantastic.
I'm decent with poses, but I'm not good as you when it comes to dynamic and perspective drawings like yours.
I've seen clips and previews of RahXephon but I've never seen it. Maybe I'll check it out.

I've heard somewhere that you use the pen tool, is that right? If so, can you point me to a good tutorial, or if you'd like you could just explain yourself.

I didn't exactly create the pose... This is basically an elaborate version of a screenshot from the second episode, with a better dress.
Getting a new tablet was the biggest help here. I don't know if I told everyone. Anyway, my old one was really holding me back. Her body here was done freehand, only the dress and the lower bit of her legs were made with paths. I can't really show you a tutorial... I've never used one to teach me about paths XD. I use the freeform pen tool anyway... I've probably told you before.. because I remember you asking me this a while ago.
I couldn't reccomend this anime to you enough. Even though I don't have heaps of money, I made damn sure to get all the DVD's...and it's easily some of the best money I ever spent.

The dress was sketched roughly and redone using paths, but the hair/face/arms were done freehand. It'd just take too long to do those long curves without going insane. XD

its true, the designers do make wonderful pictures of which people can use to draw wonderful fanart as well~
The whole character is wonderful of course, but for some reason the hair sticks out above the rest in a good way <3

*3* I really liked this lineart, especially the expression on her face!
I usually draw in a higher resolution too, so the lines are more clean when you resize it, OC doesn't have much problems (just when opening/saving) with big files, but PS glitches and frozes everytime I stroke a line, it's such a pain.... Another reason I just use PS for editing now...

Oh man, sorry about the glitching =C. I hate it when silly stuff like that ruins it all so easily. Unfortunately, since my tablet is obscure I can't use it's pen pressure in PS.. but Painter has no problem. Ugh. XD
But if I could make truely beautiful lineart like you can, I wouldn't be upset at all! your work makes my lineart look so common~ X3

The brush I used was 3px across. 2px for the longer bit of the scarf. This could have been wayyy smaller if I didnt decide to change the perspective which made the bottom take up much more area. But it was worth the extra time and canvas size. haha~

Yeah, Photoshop doesn't seem to like files with resolutions higher than 200 DPI. Which sucks for me because I want to make large prints of what I do.
