Description An interesting omission from the original draft of Godzilla vs Biollante, featured a mid-movie fight with another of Dr. Shirigami's genetic hybrids, Deutalios. Half rat and half fish, Godzilla would have fought this beast and then feasted on it's remains. The studio found this scene to graphic and deleted it altogether. It was replaced with Godzilla facing Biollante in her rose stage at the massive lake.

I can't help but feel that this scene would take away the films focus on Biollante, since she's hardly in it anyways. But it would have been cool to see how this would have been executed, as we arent sure if Deutalios would have any beams or projectile weapons, so this would undoubtedly be a physical fight of tooth and claw (a rarity in the Heisei series). Pretty sure, it would have ended with Deutalios getting the bad end of Godzilla's atomic beam anyway.

When I tried to visualize this match taking place, I figured it would still be at the lake, since both rats and fish are prone to thrive in such environments, so naturally Deutalios would be there as well. The Biogoji suit from G vs B is one of my all time favorte suits of the modern movies, and I feel like it's look was diluted with each following entry. Too bad...

The top of the head of Deutalios looks like the head of Gezora

Am I the only one here who thinks that Deutalios can be rebooted in the Shin series?

It would have worked if Deutalios sounded like the Toho toons version.

I actually would like to see this battle...in fact I may use Deutalios in a few of my stories. However, in terms of Godzilla suits, I placed Bio-Goji at the number 13 spot out of the 18 Godzilla designs.

This would have been a crazy scene. Deutalios sounded like he would have been a interesting monster. The look you gave him reminds me of Anguruis. I have to admit thought, Godzilla feasting on the remains of a dead kaiju sounds totally out of characterΒ to me. That'sΒ my opinon. Nice work.Β

Thanks! I was aiming to make him a crawling/quadraped like Angilas.

Man, I am going to sound like a broken record but....this is great. Darn good use of abstracting light sources here. Its so dark and moody like the film. Just has fainting wisps of a fading sun setting in the background. The water is black, and has cascading rings around the monsters as they sit half submerged in the dark brine. Great

I actually find myself just scanning over every square inch of this background for some reason. And that is odd considering there really i s no single thing that is jumping out from it. I don't know...it just feels familiar. It's hard describe lol. It just makes me smile when I look at it.

As for the monsters....great as always. The staged combate between the two looks very Showa like. An aspect that unfortunately was not used all that often in the 90s films. You just had those odd spots where he would grab someone by they tail and start to body slam them into the ground repeatedly lol.

But it's another good piece. I see you experimented a little bit with the blur effect on this one. Looks good.

I mentioned on another comment, that this one is probably the LEAST satisfactory of my "Unmade" series. But my reasons for not enjoying the end results are pretty much the exact reasons why you like this. LOL Congratulations. You've yet again proven that I cannot trust my self critique too much! Thanks for that!

While...I did enjoy the blur effect, it certainly is not something I would want to see on every future piece. It was ok for one time

As for the color....I think it works for the film you did. Sort of like how the Godzilla Returns one work. They were dark films. Now if you did something like the "supposed" Baragon vs MechaGodzilla scene in the 74 film....then I would want to see bright earthy tone colors. Its still up for debate whether or not it was suppose to be Angurius or Baragon. Some fans say yes...and others say no.

Yeah, that's a scene I would love to create...but I question it's legitimacy as well.

Glad you stated that about the blur effect as I was about to apply it to one I am working on now...LOL...

earthbaragon In reply to Fourgreen [2014-06-19 19:16:59 +0000 UTC]

Lol. I am glad I said something. I would really only apply the blur to something that is flying fast....like Rdan or Mothra. Or I would use it for wings that are moving fast like Megagirlas, or the weird Marvel Godzilla monster that flies like a helicopter.

Other than that I would do what you normally do.

Nice work, though Deutalios looks much bigger than I thought he would lol. I wouldn't have minded seeing Godzilla kill & consume another kaiju, especially a lesser one like the rat fish lol, but I am glad they kept Biollante and focused on her & Goji :3

I'm off to my sister's wedding man, keep up the great artwork
