Description Yay the gown is finished! I made the gown looking like the one Queen Elizabeth I wears on the Ditchley portrait (this one: [link] ).

If you look closely you see that the backside of the gown is actually made of red fabric and not white! So in the back there is red brocade (about 4/5 meters) and the front is made of a ivory shiny cotton-like fabric (lets's say 10 meters) with white fabric in "crosslines" that normally is used for lining (a whopping 15 meters!). The rosettes contain a fabric flower with a gold filigree cabochon and either an emerald green or red stone or 4 little pearls. In between all the rosettes are pearls sewn on, aswell as on the edges of the large oversleeve.l
The oversleeve almost hits the ground and is also red on the backside.

What's under the gown you ask? A hoop skirt that I shamelessly bought (at magicskirts.de, great website!), a large bumroll and a wheel farthingale. I made the standing ruff myself too.

I am waiting for my custom jewellery to arrive and then it is finished! I'll be wearing this great and heavy dress on the Elf Fantasy Fair (or Elfia it is called now) 2013 on 20/21 April in Haarzuilens - The Netherlands

Here is a photo of the backside of the gown: [link]

Absolutely gorgeous! One of the most gorgeous and faithful copies of a portrait gown that I have ever seen. Truly a work of art.

Thank you Megan! I did my very best to give my vision on the gown and make it come to life again.

It was a bit challenging as usual because I have only found 2 reproductions of this gown and they were from the BBC. Normally you can learn from other people's choices but I knew what I wanted and how, so no big problems occured.

I will definitely post a photo or two of me wearing it. Can't wait for the jewellery! It brings it all together for sure!
