Yeah, I was a much different person at 17, much less mature and worldy than I am at 22. The "Senior Crush" section of my high school yearbook was a section in which people could give shout outs to their significant others, or confess their love for someone before graduation. As a high school senior, I confessed my love for a girl I fell for that year, without knowing if she'd reciprocate. She didn't, and she turned out to not be a very nice person, but I had submitted the senior crush for her in September, before I had found out what she was really like. So when the yearbook came out, it served as a reminder of my foolishness. I'm not really embarrassed by it, but it's a brief moment of my life that was deserving of a brief poem to honor it.

Yeah, I'm twenty-teo, not seventeen. People mistake me for seventeen all the time, but I'm twenty-two. And the recent crush was a good one, or at least much better than the one this poem is about
