Sinestro as Evil Soldier? Seems a bit more of an evil genius.

I see what you mean, but to me, the lantern corps' always had a militaristic nature to them (Green Lantern's are space cops after all.) I think most villains that aren't henchmen, aliens, evil gods, or savage monsters tend to fall under that archetype, since intelligence is important to being a top tier villain. I haven't read many Green Lantern comics, so you could be right about Sinestro, but I put him there since the lanterns are like space soldiers.

I didn't make this shirt, I only own it. But yeah, I see what you mean.

maybe it's a joke at the fact some people (though i can't fathom why) can't tell reptiles and amphibians apart?

Maybe, but I don't think so. I think it was just a stylistic choice (Snakes look more menacing than frogs.) I'm not saying it was good idea to draw an reptilian head and say amphibian, but to me, that's probably the most likely explanation.

well, it's a running joke when it comes to turtles anyway
why no one remembers they're reptiles I'll never know

I think people are used to thinking of reptiles as fierce-looking, that's why/ Although some turtles are pretty intimidating as well though.

It is one of the less inherently evil archetypes, I'll admit. And quite often they're used as pawns by the evil genius or mad scientist types.

I notice most of the examples came from the Batman universe. ^_^;
Fun concept!

Yeah, well they are my examples, and Batman is my favorite superhero, so that's who I thought of first. I tried to choose from every comic book hero I know though. Also, most of these villain cliches aren't ones that always have super powers, and a lot of Batman villains don't have super powers.
But thanks for pointing that out, and I'm glad you liked the shirt.

I didn't mean anything bad about it! The Teen Titans were my gateway into comics, and since Nightwing is one of my all-time favorite characters, it was a very quick, very logical leap into the world of The Bat. I just hadn't noticed how many of those villains from that particular series fit the stereotypes.
I know my stepdad would love to have that shirt!

yeah, I almost put Ra's Al Ghul as a dark magician instead, but then I remembered that Loki is a more direct user of dark magic.
