yeah and this is my second to last semester of college (I can feel myself getting lazier already.) I want to become a teacher, but that requires doing a credential program, so I might take a break after graduation because I'll probably be burned out from school. Do you know what you're doing after high school?

Yup, I'm going to take the ASVAB on the 5th of February and hopefully I can score over a 50 on the ASVAB. I plan on going in the Air Force to be a X-Ray Technician for 4 years then get out of the service and go to school to continue my classes to be a X-ray technician to make a lot of money. X-Ray Technician makes a lot of money b/c its in the medical field in which I'm really good at

Sounds great! And I've heard the Air Force isn't as rough as the other branches of the military, so I hope that goes well for you. I have friends who served in the Navy and the Marines, and they said they didn't like it very much. It's good that you know what you want to do though, since a lot of people don't think that far in advance.

I'm doing alright. My summer's been a bit on the uneventful side though. How about yours? I noticed that you haven't posted anything new in awhile, so I didn't have much to comment on your page. How's your home situation doing, is your step-mom treating you okay? I thought I'd ask about that because I gave you advice on it last year.

My is doing great! No fights, no drama, just a happy family is good for me. Well, my scanner doesn't read the comupter for my pictures so i got to find another way. And my stories...I have writers block, but i'm about to post a Light and thunder chapter up pretty soon. And my step mom is doing much better since last year, its just that now...the natural side of a woman is starting to kick in, but i can handle it ^^

Great to hear I know I'm not the one you talk to the most here, but I'm glad to hear that situation's going better, and I'm happy to help in any way I can. Oh yeah, and what does "natural side of a woman" mean anyway. Are you referring to menopause?
Oh and for your pictures, you could try taking photos of them with a regular camera, uploading them to your computer's photo program, such as iphoto, and then making the pictures into jpegs that you can upload to DA. That's how I posted pictures of my graphic tees to DA, and it should work as long as you have the right program on your computer.

Oh wait, were you waiting for me to respond to your note. I did receive it, and I read it, but you told me that there was a part two coming, so I was waiting for that before responding. If you were expecting a response, I'm sorry, I'll get on it as soon as possible.

Oh I was waiting until you were done with the first one you respond. I guess I should have been more specific. But yeah don't rush though. If you're busy with other things that ok. I should be calling my school counselor instead of being on DA for 24/7.
But yeah how have you been. It's so stinking hot!!!

And what might those be? I'm entering my third year of college on August 23rd. I'm a creative writing major, and I'm taking all major classes (English literature and creative writing) this upcoming semester. I'm excited for that because I've already started my major and discovered it's the right one for me, and I'll be around girls who share common interests with me, so hopefully I can get some dates. What about you? What are you studying, and what do you want to accomplish in college?

I woud like to be an illustrator and I'm entering my third year too! but the problem I have is that I am interested in so many things like creatice writing, languages, P.E., history. And I can't take all of those classes on my financial aid. I do need to get into a digital media class though.

Are you at a four year university, or a community college. G.E classes is where you'd study things you're interested in but don't want to make a career in, although you're probably almost finished with G.E though. You could always minor in history or foreign language though, as both teach you some valuable things. My older sister was a history major (just graduated) and they're a smart bunch who usually go into academics, law, record keeping, and archaeology. Foreign languages are crucial, especially Arabic, Mandarin, and Spanish. America has a terrible track record for foreign languages, and most of our bilingual citizens are immigrants. The Western world is taking a backseat in power to other countries, and English will go from the supreme language to merely strong. I do love art majors though, considering I'm one myself, so go for it. It helps to have a strong minor though. I'm going to minor in communications, since it goes hand in hand with creative writing.

I'm going to community college then transferring to SDSU by fall next year hopefully. I want my minor to be Japanese but my financial aid won't pay for Japanese 3. Which all the more reason for me to get a job.
Oh yeah since you said Western. This is a very important question I need an aswer to if possible. Everytime the word "Westerner" is mention in media, the person is white or white European. My thing is that me, you, native indians, latins, etc that live in the western world are westerners too. So what exactally is a westerner?
π: 0 β©: 1
Drekeagan In reply to insanity8grimoire [2011-07-27 06:21:58 +0000 UTC]
You know, you bring up a good point. It's really difficult to define what a "westerner" is, but I've fallen back into using it. Most people say it refers to someone living in the "west," but as you've pointed out, that doesn't make sense. We're technically "westerners" as well, but the Earth is round, not flat, so it all depends on where you are. If you use it as a strictly geographical term, then Australia and New Zealand aren't part of the west, even though they have primarily white populations. Another problem that you've brought up is ethnic minorities, it's not clear whether you or I would be considered Westerners, or if whites living in other parts of the world would be considered non western. And what about Russians and other Eastern Europeans? To people like us, we don't associate them with "the west" now do we? Other times it's used to denote first world status, or simply Europe, America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. That's why on the news they'll sometimes refer to the industrialized "first world" as Japan and the west. In actuality though, it's a one sided and misleading term that has to be gotten rid of. It's a generalization, and generalizations can be useful but very dangerous if taken too literally. They cloud your way of thinking, and I made a mistake by falling into the habit of using an unclear over generalization. You're quite the thinker, and it's good that you question the labels our society puts in place. Thanks for bringing it up. You helped me catch a mistake I was aware of but didn't realize that I had just committed.

Yeah but don't be stressed. I've been looking all over the internet as to what "Westerner" means. But the term itself is quite a double standard.

Thank you, it means a lot to me It's kind of funny to me, not being a teenager anymore, but I'm sure the twenties will be an exciting time in life. And by the way, in Britain are legally an adult yet, or is it eighteen like the U.S.

And yeah, it is a gradual change, but I'm glad to look and feel young for my age, and you should as well, because we'll probably still be youthful and good looking when our peers are old and withered

Yeah, and an unfinished ongoing story that's on hold. I'm tempted to pull it off and rewrite it, as I was starting to go down a dead end, but I'm really busy with college, and I'm also attempting to get a job next year. But don't worry, I'll still write because I'm a creative writing major.
