This happened with my current boyfriend...And he doesn't know that I don't get love from him, so I have to get it somewhere else. So I'm cheating on him with an ex boyfriend. It's all rather weird.

I know the feeling, trust me. But you never know. I believe you will fall in love again. Maybe not with your current boyfriend, but with someone else, or him, someday. It seems impossible, but if you let yourself some time, if you believe in it, it will happen again. Who knows? Maybe next time it will be the love of your life!

Someone was JUST talking about this. Maybe it was Dear Abby. Huh. Anyway.

People say stupid, stupid things when they are in a heated emotional state. I am 500% sure that they didn't mean what they said. It may feel impossible to open up and trust again but you can't let what one person said (no matter how much you loved them) ruin the rest of your life.

This is exactly why I'd never, ever tell this to anyone I was with, no matter the circumstances of the break-up. Don't worry, ST, it's nothing but hot temper and angry words - people say stupid things when anger's not letting them think straight. It's a complete lie, and they just want to consolidate the break-up in their own ways. They figure, 'if I can't have you forever, then I'll just make myself believe I never loved you.' They make themselves believe it by hurting you with those words. But it's never true. Not with something strong as a romantic relationship. They wouldn't have stayed even the time that they did if they never loved you.

That said, it's okay not to rush things with your current guy. Just let yourself be yourself, and let the feeling come when it's good and ready to. Get to know him, get close to him over time... Maybe even talk about these issues with him, so he knows that he'll need to try a little harder to get close to you. If he knows what he has to do, or at least has an idea, I can almost guarantee he'll do it. Love is a strong motivator, after all.

I had this happen, it did hurt and you don't see the word 'love' like it is meant to be seen.
I ran into him a couple years later. Turns out he said it because he wanted me to find someone better.
Guys say the wrong things.
