Are there any other continents on this world?

Awesome reference! Thank you for sharing. About how big is Windsonde over all? I'm trying to figure out how long it would take for a Gryphon to travel across it...I'm picturing it like a quarter the size of Australia, or is it bigger than that?

Hmm, that's a good question! I imagined this landmass to be... a similar size as Australia, though maybe a little bit smaller. It's pretty big. (Though, maybe that's way too big?? I'm not sure. Let's say half the size of Australia...)
It probably takes a bit for a gryph to fly from one end to the other, but the big dry part in the middle has lots and lots of thermals, which probably helps speed travel along.

Okay, that's good to know! So, for the average gryphon, flying from one end to the other would take like 4 days then? As far as I can tell, Australia is just a tad smaller across than the US, so that'd be like flying from New York City to Denver. Just wanting to check before I do my challenges! Trying to wrap my head around it all.

That's a great question. Unfortunately, I am not entirely sure how long it would take. It's something to do some research on, for sure.
Β Though, I don't think you should worry too much about it. Just assume it takes more than a day?
Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I'm really clueless about how long it takes to travel someplace... maybe researching how long it takes migratory birds to go from a point A to a point B might help?

This is amazing, and so very useful! I always wondered where everything was in relation to each other, for some reason I always thought that Twistlout was in between Skrekrill and Grandesque... have no idea why!

Nope. Only gryphons.

one more question (or maybe two)...
do the gryphons have some kind of society? and how intelligent they are compared to average humans?

They're as intelligent as humans, and their society is structured very similarly.

This is so great! I've always had trouble visualizing the backgrounds for Windsonde.
Would you say that Skrekrill region is a lot like the Burren? (link )

So their planet rotates in the opposite direction as Earth? Are the oceans salty?

Huh?? o_o You confused me big time there. Why would the rotation be opposite??
Yes, the oceans are salty.

The orographic effect! That sharp jungle/desert cutoff at a mountain range does happen, but the desert is often west of the mountains due to the way the earth's rotation moves the winds at latitudes favorable for jungles. Look at the rocky mountains, the himalayas, or the andes, they all tend to have wetter climates on the east side and drier ones on the west.
But perhaps the worldwide climate is different... It's not impossible to find desert on the west, but it might take some finagling to explain. Maybe the climate is warmer and wetter overall, allowing jungles to be found further from the equator so you can use the westerlies to drive the orographic effect like the one shown here.
