Description Name: Elena Albanese (pronounced "Al-ba-neh-seh")
Nicknames: "El" "Weird Mammal Girl/Lady"
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Height: 1.5 m
Nationality: 3rd generation Italian.
Personality: Somewhat impulsive and a little bit naive, but determined to do her job well (and to paint dinosaurs).
History: A native of New York City and a graduate from Drexel University (yes, she's a Pyle student). Elena works as an Illustrator for Harper's Monthly Magazine, and is in Gwangi on commission from Harper's to illustrate the tournament and its happenings. She dragged her sister Teresa along for the ride.
Misc: Extremely obsessed with art and the art world. Knows very little about animals.

MOUNT
Name: Monty
Nickname: "Stinky Cow"
Gender: Male
Species: Placerias gigas
Height: Approximately 1.32 m
Length: 3.5 m
Misc: Simple, dumb, and nearly useless. Makes the same stupid noise when pet or when kicked. Monty is a shared mount, and carries both Elena and her sister. He can't move very fast, though.
Elena bought Monty from a Dicynodont rancher on their way to Gwangi. A very bad purchase.

PET
Name: Gugie (pronounced "Goo-ghee")
Gender: Female
Species: Repenomamus giganticus
Height: Approximately .32 m
Lenght: 1 m
Misc: Likes herbivores, ladies, being pet, belly rubs, and head scratches. Dislikes stinky men and carnivores.
Elena acquired Gugie after her sister came home with a beautiful Nomingia. Elena rushed off to get herself a pretty bird-dino, but got sidetracked when she saw Gugie and bought the Repenomamus instead. Gugie doubles as an excellent guard dog, particularly at night when her kind is most active.

Phew! So glad that's finished!

Joining because it looks cool. People riding dinosaurs is just such a winning combination! *Dinotopia fangirl*

Why, oh why did I think it was a good idea to base her appearance on myself? It's so freakin' weird to look at my computer screen and see a cartoon version of me staring back!
To quote my sister, *nekonotaishou ; "Before any of my friends disown me, I want to say that I did this just to see if I could actually do it. Plus, hey, unlimited free references

She's basically the product of a train of though that started off at "self insert" and ended up at something that is like me in many areas, but completely different in other areas.
I have so much fun coming with scenarios for this character, you have no idea. I just hope that I can get some of them to be presentable enough to share."

Fully rendered animals with flat, barely-detailed humans Well....I guess it's obvious what I like to draw...

Albanese means Albanian in Italian.

Yes it does
(It was my great-grandmother's surname)

(Awesome! So that means your great-grandmother might have been of ArbΓ«resh origin?)

(Maybe. Honestly, I'm not sure. All I know is that she was from the Calabria region of Italy. Perhaps her family was distantly Albanian?)

Yes there are ArbΓ«reshΓ« villages especially in the region of Calabria.
The wiki says:
"The wave of migration from southern Italy to the Americas in 1900-1910 depopulated approximately half of the ArbΓ«reshΓ« villages, and subjected the population to the risk of cultural disappearance, despite the beginning of a cultural and artistic revival in the 19th century."

Oh, lord... Monty's the best thing I've seen in a while. What a sweetie! XD Elena's adorable, too! This is gonna sound weird, but Gugie's nose is beautiful."Dislikes stinky men"... hahahah! I love the saddle design and the literal color palette you made -- can't remember the last time I saw that (if ever). Awesome!

Sorry for the late reply! It's always difficult for me to answer your comments, Kei, because whenever I read them my first reaction is always: " alaskdjflsdkf waaaah thank you!"

.....
so, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LOVELY WORDS, KEI!

It is a pretty neat club XD The time period lets me nerd out over all the neat things I just learned in my history of illustration class, too!

XD welcome. I'd join if I could, but I can't draw to save my life, and even if I could, I don't have anything to upload it with. DX Oh well. At least I can watch.

Haha! She's cute! Monty is in striking contrast with all the badass sharp-toothed spikey mounts of the contestants, he's all like "-derp."!

comixqueen In reply to IoNekta [2012-12-02 11:40:23 +0000 UTC]

XD Thank you!
"Derp" certainly is the best definition for Monty. One could even argue that he's too derp to even "derp" Whoa, that doesn't even make sense. It's 3 AM, time for bed >_>
